Bland food, only 1 vegan main - Edit
There's only 1 vegan starter, 1 main dish and 1 pudding on the current lunch menu. We tried the soup of the day, which happened to be vegan, but the combination of potato with rocket lacked any flavour whatsoever. The only vegan main was vegetable chickpea curry with rice, served with papadum and mango chutney. Quite a strange choice in a traditional British pub. Unfortunately it turned out to be vegetables and chickpeas in a mild tomato paste. I couldn't taste any Indian spice at all and the meal was very dry, unlike a proper curry. I had to mix in the mango chutney into the curry to add some flavour to the whole thing.
Read moreThe staff was nice and the place looked really cosy, but as we came for lunch and the food was below average for an above average price, we won't be back.
Pros: Friendly staff, Cosy
Cons: Very limited vegan options, Bland food, Expensive for what it is

Delicious! - Edit
I’ve been vegetarian for years but went vegan two years ago and have had to virtually stop eating out in my area since then! This used to be a firm favourite for family meals out so I was so pleased when I called them and they said they have vegan as well as veggie options now (not just lumping the two together and definitely not just an after-thought), I only had a main course but it was absolutely delicious (mushroom streudel) so will definitely be coming here again. As a family group we prefer the atmosphere of a pub for evening meals rather than restaurants and that has made it hard to go out around here (North Cotswolds) since I went vegan so I’m really happy to know now that the Eight Bells is going to be a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for us. Yey!
