Amazing!

Couldn't recommend this place any more! Lovely atmosphere, great choice and options, so much flavour and in general one of the best in Budapest! Got the mixed plate of everything as I was just unable to choose from all the deliciousness 💚

Excellent food but on the expensive side

Huge portion, buffet style set up, raw cakes, lots of choice, right near the castle, staff were super friendly

Pros: Great choice and food is delicious

Cons: Due to the area it is a bit expensive

Good food but pricey

The first time I went over, they didn't have the food ready even though they were open. The only option was a tofu omelette. Starving after a night bus, I went ahead with it and ordered a coffee.

The meal was good but was unexpectedly pricey. The coffee especially but the staff was very nice and accommodating. They allowed me to store my items as I went to get a cash out.

The second time I went over, I agree that the concept is indeed very confusing. I ended up ordering a set which would allow me to try a bit of everything on their smorgasbord of vegan food. The food was tasty and probably what I needed after all the walking I had done that day.

There was a counter that seemed like a help yourself counter and so poured myself a class of water. I was surprised to find that I was charged for that water.

All in all, it's a nice cozy place with delicious food but if you're on a tight budget, there are other vegan places in town where u can get the same quantity of food for half the price.

Pros: Good staff, Delicious food

Cons: Expensive, Confusing, Charges for water

Very Disappointing

Visited Edeni Vegan while traveling in Budapest and I was really looking forward to a good meal. I approached the cafeteria-style counter expecting to select which dishes I wanted. The lady asked if I wanted a hamburger and when I said yes she told me to sit down and that she would bring me the food. Confused, I sat down and waited a very long time until the food was served. The salad was drowned in a gross dressing and had some type of smoked vegan sausage that ruined my chance of enjoying the vegetables. The sauce on the hamburger and the horrible cheese substitute made me unable to eat more then a few bites of the hamburger. Maybe I chose the wrong dish and wasnt clear enough with what I wanted but I will not give this place a second chance.

Pros: Friendly staff

Cons: Bad food, Confusing model (counter+waiter)

Nice Lunch Spot!

Really enjoyed our lunch here, the staff were friendly and helpful. They have a small menu that changes daily. I ordered a seitan curry with rice that was very tasty and filling. My friend got the burger which she loved. I would have loved to get dessert but was too full. It was a little more expensive than other places in Budapest but was still reasonable.

A cool mix of food

I went with my mother and we got a mixed plate with almost everything in the buffet, which was about 11 euros (a bit pricey for just one person but perfect for sharing). The food was great, and i didn't mind not knowing exactly what I was eating cause it was all vegan.
They had falafel, rice, burgers and hotdogs, a soup or cream, some "meat" plates and sauces.

The waiters were really nice and even though we didn't understand each other completely, they tried.

Pros: Different, Great taste, Nice people

Nice staff/place, average food

The place is very nice and cosy and the staff was also very friendly. Unfortunately the burgers were plain and without any significant flavor.

Wish I could give five stars

I was very happy to find and try this restaurant.
It' location is perfect, staff was kind and helpful. I ate salad every time I visited, they give you a huge portion when you ask for the bigger plate. The 'veggieloaf' was delicious. My mother tried one if their main dishes, she was satisfied. As far as I know the pastries (mostly cakes) they offer aren't made there, but they taste amazing.
I really liked the place, so I was very disappointed when I got to know that they're not 100% reliable. It's not an ethical vegan restaurant, they sometimes use milk powder, which is completely okay for them. What a pity.
Honestly I don't know wether to recommend a visit, because it's in a really nice place, you can never be sure that your food is really 100% cruelty-free and vegan. I hope they do something against it in the future.

Pros: Very good location, Good food

Cons: Not 100% vegan

not fresh, not tasty, expensive and dirty

tried this place 2-3 times, even brought friends there - who were very disappointed. the meals are quite expensive, the portions are small, if you go for a sandwich that's dry (you can taste that it's not fresh at all), and the place itself feels so dirty. I pass by regularly, but never see any changes. don't think I'll give it another chance.

huge disappointment

Unfortunately I can not write any positive thing about this restaurant. Their foods are tasteless, the crew is not very kind, the price is not even reasonable. they sell vegan food but I've heard they use milk (cow) powder and the crew is not even vegan or follows the vegan policies and thoughts. They may look fancy but don't fall for it.
I tried many times, because I didn't want to judge by 1 or 2 occasions, but I suggest everybody to go to another vegan places.

Lunch - Omelette and Stew w. rice

Lovely hidden pearl on the Buda side close to the Donau river. I had the tofu stew with rice and it was very tasty, almost like stroganoff. My boyfriend had the omelette and we couldn't stop eating from each-others plates, it was that good. And the ginger lemonade was to die for!! We paid 17 euros for everything. Lovely staff and they speak English.

Pros: Not to many tourist in the area, lunch + dessert , English speaking staff

Cons: on the Buda side, if you don't enjoy walking, it's

expensive but good

This is by far the most expensive place I ate at during my 3 week trip. It is a canteen style place and so you go and choose what you would like but the pricing/combos are not written down so she explains it to you and it is very complicated and gets expensive fast. There was a really big selection of food though and every dish was delicious. Good location.

Average

Menus available, plentiful servings, food was OK, but lady really does not listen to guests. At the end price of salad was equal to main dish price... according to receipt. But it was interesting that receipt does not mention salad, another main dish instead?
If you stuck here, be carefull, check your reicept and give back if you've got what you did not ask for.

Good cafeteria - not restaurant.

This is a cafeteria style restaurant. When we walked in, the lady behind the counter was very nice but not very good at explaining each food (and not because of a language barrier). So we weren't 100% sure what we were ordering. We ended up getting a Chilli con Carne (no meat), cooked beets, and some seitan.
It was all very good and flavourful. The portion sizes was nice and we were well satiated after the meals. However, I'm not sure I would pay those prices for cafeteria food again.
Restaurant was also a bit tacky, which to some isn't a problem, but it does make it feel even more like a cafeteria and less like a restaurant.

Pros: Good food, Good portion sizes, Owner was very nice

Cons: Tacky interior, A little pricey

Wouldn't Visit Again

First of all Budapest has some amazing vegan restaurants and all of them I would recommend a thousand times over Edeni.

The lady who was serving that day was quite rude and didn't listen to our requests. She served us a little bit of everything. I would have preferred to have more potatoes, less seitan because I don't like it but who cared, it was get what you are given here. I manage to pour myself a juice but it tasted like grass.

Although it was traditional Hungarian food which was what we were after, we were thoroughly disappointed. It was cafeteria style and had clearly been sitting out all day, it was cold and stodgy. The flavours were bland and boring - the opposite of what I'd heard about Hungarian food.

Surprisingly there was no goulash but some funny potatoes in gravy, a steak-esque seitan slab and some vegetables. We also got a salad with seeds on top which wasn't tasty either.

The good news is that this place is really cheap and in a lovely location. The food was really gross, though.

I mean, you're in Budapest! There's a gazillion better vegan options around, go somewhere else!

Pros: Cheap, cheap, cheap!, Traditional Hungarian food

Cons: Horrible food, Rude staff, You get what you are given

Good find!

We found this on a walk by the river, it was a pleasant cafeteria style service. Good food with lots of choice, seitan, tofu, beans etc.
The juices are a little overpriced though.
The cakes were lovely too.

Pros: Choice, quick, desserts

Cons: Juices

Cafe style , buffet food

We were looking for a vegan restaurant near Castle Hill and this was the nearest one . The restaurant is café-style with a smallish buffet to choose from . The food was wholesome and tasted home-made but was quite oily , and the choices on the menu were not that large .
The prices were similar to other Vegan Restaurants that we ate at , that offered a " fancier" dining experience with a much larger menu and nicer ambience .

Pros: Wholesome , "home-made" food

Cons: Small menu, Prices similar to more upscale vegan restuarants

An OK experience

The restaurant looks very cute and cosy. It is pretty large and has a big terrace.

Please note that the food is mostly self-service food, in large pans which sit there all day...
We were a bit taken aback when I went to order a vegan burger and the lady instantly sighed and said "Ugh, why does everybody have to order burgers? We have excellent food here."
Well yes, lady, I hear you. Then why put a vegan burger on the menu if you don't want to serve them?
She did add that the burgers were from the day before which lead me to believe that some dishes might not be that fresh.

Apart from that, there is a pretty large choice. The food is good but not out-of-this-world, and it is on the cheap side. Not the best quality-price ratio of Budapest, but good enough.

Pros: Terrace, cute and cosy, Cheap-ish

Cons: Self-service food

Friendly place on the Buda side

While it wasn't my favorite vegan place in the city I'd still recommend it. The green juice was tasty, so was the pumkin soup. Helpful staff. Lacks a bit of atmosphere.

Pros: gluten free options available

Reasonable

Cafeteria style service as previously mentioned but lots of different options. Ends up being a bit of a mix and match of different foods but the tofu scramble with tofu frankfurter, salad and other things I ate were good.

Pros: Choice, Price
