worth a try - Edit
The owners and workers at East Village are very knowledgeable and accommodating of veganism, food allergies and preferences- they ask questions about your eating and they have answers for which I feel confident. I have eaten at East Village several times since they opened, and have always enjoyed my meals, even if they are a bit small. There has always been a vegan baked good days I have gone. Once I had the tofu scramble for breakfast, and was offered coconut butter on the bread as a vegan option- it was delicious. I have enjoyed a couple of the raw options- the nut loaf and the wraps, but the portions are on the smaller side.
I like the decor and atmosphere, and the people working and frequenting the cafe are always enjoyable and pleasant. The cafe is a great place to hang with a book or piece of writing. Although I prefer to frequent 100% vegan restaurants, this is a place I can take meat-eating friends and everyone will be happy.
The hot drinks are very good, and the Indigo Coffee is always delicious. I would give East Village a fair try to experience it for yourself, especially as it is the best spot in Easthampton.
Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable staff, Fun atmosphere, Open for breakfast
Cons: Small portion sizes, Sometimes closed without notice, Sometimes unresponsive telephone

I wanted to like it - Edit
I was excited to try the East Village Cafe and am always willing to support a place with vegan offerings.
The decor is interesting but a bit much.
We ordered a raw Thai taco. I believe it was around $8.00. We were very disappointed upon receiving it as it was simply a large lettuce leaf with some vegetables, peanut sauce and possibly some tofu in it (I can't recall).
This was something that I could have made at home for about $1.00, and I could have made it far more interesting and substantial.
I do hope that this restaurant picks it up a bit and would be willing to try it again upon hearing some positive reviews.

Raw food options! - Edit
The Northampton area, unfortunately, has no restaurants or cafes that offer raw food options--until now. The East Village Cafe and Gallery offers a light, cafe style menu with a goodly number of vegetarian options and a very nice selection of raw food choices. These include raw nut loaf, Thai veggie taco, walnut taco, salads including my favorite with nut loaf chunks and goji berries.
For breakfast the best vegan choices are the tofu scramble or the raw no-grain granola with in-house made almond milk. The almond milk smoothies are a great choice anytime.
Tell the staff about your dietary preferences, they are very accommodating.
The decor is usual and fun. There is usually a jig-saw puzzle under construction if you want to play while waiting for your order.
