What a gem! - Edit
Most of the menu is vegan. The beef Banh Mi and grilled chicken Banh Mi were amazing. Also got an empanada and the friend chicken (oyster mushrooms) and they were very good too! Can’t wait to try the sweets and drinks.

Mostly Vegan - Edit
Technically this bakery is not vegan, but most of their menu is and it's all good! I wish Happy Cow would let me give them 5 stars. Everything is made fresh and in-house. The lemongrass beef banh mi was amazing! The empanadas were flaky, tender, and amazing. The fried "chicken" (oyster mushrooms) was amazing!

I have been here several times in the last year. Last time I picked up their limited and very popular almond croissant and pistachio cream croissants. The pistachio was to die for. I usually get their fries chick’n Bahn Mi or steak. Everything is good here

Vegan Banh Mi, Pastries, and Fried Chicken - Edit
Really great vegan banh mi, pastries, and vegan "fried chicken" here! Came with my husband while we were in Anaheim for a work conference of his, and if our hotel had been closer there's a good chance I would have come here on the other days we were in Anaheim as well! I think they also do non-vegetarian banh mi etc. as well, but things are pretty clearly marked.
Read moreThe ladies at the shop were really friendly and even offered me a sample of the "fried chicken" (which is oyster mushrooms in a fried chicken style batter, fried to crispy perfection), and if I weren't already getting banh mi and a box of pastries, I would have gotten that as well! All of the pastries we got, sweet or savory, were also really good, but I think the savory ones were my favorites because they're different from what I can find in my area. My non-veg husband really liked the "ham & cheese" croissant, which I think was probably his favorite. We both got the "combination" banh mi, and they were very fresh tasting!
There were a lot more things I wanted to try, but we were only going to be in Anaheim for three days and I wasn't sure I would feel super safe taking a Lyft out to a random small shopping plaza in an area I don't know on my own (we went right after we checked into the hotel, so before my husband's conference started). The plaza itself is busy and seems like it's been there for a while, and is something of a contrast to the clean and relatively modern/new interior of the bakery. The bakery doesn't actually have any seating etc., so it seems the expectation is that everything is to go, but after our flight had been delayed twice, we were pretty hungry and ate the banh mi by the entrance. There doesn't seem to be a good place for them to have seating, so I can't imagine that will change anytime soon.
Overall, if I ever find myself in the area again I will definitely be trying to come back!
Pros: Delicious vegan foods, Variety of vegan and vegetarian options, Items are pretty clearly labeled w/ingredients
Cons: No seating area, Surrounding plaza busy and kinda run down

The bahn mis here are so worth the visit. They’re huge and very tasty! There are a bunch of options and the bread is always perfectly crispy. They also have some delicious baked goods like the vegan beef puff pastry. Overall, this shop is absolutely worth visiting!

The lemongrass steak banh mi and pork banh mi were both SO GOOD. Also tried the croissant, a guava turnover, and some packaged goodies. Everything was wonderful, but the turnover REALLY sticks to your teeth.

My mom & I split a bbq pork sandwich & a chicken sandwich. Both were excellent. She also ordered a non-vegan almond croissant (she's vegetarian) & I ordered a vegan coconut croissant. Mine was better. The place is also very clean & organized.

Run, Don’t Walk - Edit
After hearing about a “vegan-friendly Vietnamese bakery,” I knew I had to try it. We stopped by midday and were instantly greeted by someone asking, “Vegan or not?” — a great start if you ask me! Everything vegan is clearly labeled, and there are a ton of options. Half of the banh mi’s were vegan, half of the pastry display case was vegan, and throughout the store, almost half of what was out was vegan — including cookies, soft cakes, cakes, steamed rice, etc.
Read moreWe opted for the lemongrass beef and special banh mi, as well as the vegan ham and cheese croissant, coconut croissant, and apple turnover. The banh mi’s were delicious. The bread was amazing, and there were lots of fresh veggies. The vegan meats were so good. The vegan ham in the special and the croissant were so “ham-like” it almost freaked me out, but my boyfriend loved it. The croissants and turnovers were also great.
The staff is vegan-aware, offered samples, and all of our food came out to $25, which shocked us because we are used to San Diego prices. Đông Hưng Viên is a fantastic, one-of-a-kind local bakery tucked away in a corner of a shopping plaza, but it definitely should not be missed.

You want vegan? - Edit
I walk into the shop and the look at me and ask if I’m ordering vegan. I didn’t realize I had attained that level of vegan where you can be spotted in the wild. Ok seriously they know their customers.
Read moreThey have several
Vegan Bahn Mì sandwiches to choose from. I got the lemongrass steak as it’s their newest and the one they recommended. They made it fresh and rang me up. Sadly I came late in the day during the holidays and most of their Vegan desserts were sold out. It’s an excuse to go back.
The sandwich was delicious. The baguette was crunchy and fluffy all at once. The pickled veggies I would be happy if there were more, I’ll ask next time. The lemongrass was flavorful and not overpowering.
Staff was great value for money is fair, store is clean. Food is yum!
Pros: Selection, Desert options
Cons: It’s a to go only spot.

Awesome!!! - Edit
The only problem with this place is that they won’t let me live here!!! The baked goods are fresh and delicious. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. There are numerous vegan options that are often times even better than their traditional counterparts (according to meat-eating family members). After working my way through all of Southern California, I can confidently say that the vegan banh mi are the best I’ve ever had. My entire family is hooked. Also, the packaging is beautiful and they take a lot of care in the labeling of vegan items. Be sure to get there early to snag some of the sesame donuts and coconut croissants!

So many vegan options - Edit
Many banh mi's (vegan as-is!) and many labeled vegan baked goods.
Read moreThe banh mi's were stuffed with veggie meats, pate, pickled daikon/carrots, cuke, jalapenos. Next time I'll slather on a bit of vegenaise when I get home to take it to the next level. But even without, really tasty, just a bit dry for my preference.
I'll get a coconut croissant every time I visit, they are soo good. Freshly baked and not too sweet. And vegan! Croissants! They have a plain version too which I'll surely try at some point when I come back.

Great vegan options! Soft Cakes, Bao, Bahn Mis! - Edit
My friend and I went at open to try to get the best selection of vegan options but sadly the nice woman at the counter apologized and told us that the VEGAN CROISSANTS (and the VEGAN PATE CHAUD as well) weren’t ready until around 9 or 10am. Keep it in mind if you go!
Read moreWe were a little let down but luckily they have a full vegan version of their bahn mi sandwich menu and many other vegan options. We ordered a vegan bahn bao, a vegan grilled chicken bahn mi, a vegan grilled pork bahn mi, and one of each color of what were labeled as vegan soft cakes.
BAHN BAO:
Fluffy boa bun that pulls apart perfectly and has a solid amount of a very convincing chicken-flavored filling. Honestly, the filling would worry me if it wasn’t clearly marked vegan. 😂 Will be a go-to on my trips here. 4.5/5 ❤️
VEGAN GRILLED CHICKEN BAHN MI:
I am not a bahn mi expert so I can only describe the experience. Crunchy and crusty outside of the baguette with soft inside. A generous amount of crisp vegetables, including fresh jalapeño, so you might want to have a drink handy because it builds a little. Satisfying sweet and savory marinated mock meat. I couldn’t pick out the exact flavoring but it worked great with all the fresh and pickled vegetables and cilantro. 5/5 ❤️🔥
VEGAN GRILLED PORK BAHN MI:
My friend had this one but they let me try it. I honestly found the flavor similar to my grilled chicken bahn mi, except maybe a slightly more rich mock meat and I noticed the pickled vegetables more in hers. 5/5 ❤️🔥
We were both very satisfied and at $7 and $7.50 respectively it’s a great value that left us happy and full.
We looked up the flavors for each of the VEGAN SOFT CAKES so I hope these are correct: Durian 🟡 (Yellow), Mung Bean 🫘 (Orange), Taro 🟣 (Purple), and Coconut 🥥 (Green).
They all had a soft phyllo dough outside encasing a generous filling that was intensely sweet and rich. My friends favorite was the DURIAN 👍 which had a nice tropical flavor similar to mango (which I also loved), but for me the COCONUT 💜 reminded me of almond joy filling wrapped in phyllo dough and it took my number one spot. That being said we enjoyed them all.
I will say they are very sweet so one might be enough per person (or even to split).
Overall a great experience and we’ll be back another day for the vegan croissants 🤌🏼

This bakery is delightful! Half of their Banh Mi menu is vegan! Most vegan options at other Vietnamese sandwich shops are usually just tofu. But here they offer a variety of mock meats. All sandwiches are only $7 and are so filling. They are big sandwiches.

So Delicious! - Edit
This gem is tucked away in the corner of a shopping center, directly across from competitor Carrot Daikon and the larger market. Everyone was so kind but the real prize are the vegan options. It’s not just a veggie sandwich, but vegan meat options such as pate, pork, chicken, and beef. They offer a buy 2 get 1 free option pricing out roughly 3/$14 making it so very worth it. They also offer vegan croissants and other desserts. According to their Instagram they are continuing to add vegan items and I’m so happy to share about them!
