廸立印度健康蔬食坊 is a gourmet style Indian vegetarian restaurant preparing dishes with emphasis on ingredients from organic and/or local farm sources. Specialties include wholewheat kiln-baked cheese pizza (dairy), and seasonal vegetables hot pot (steamboat). Menu is in Chinese, and marks every dish by the type of vegetarian diet that it is included in: egg, dairy, five pungents (onion, garlic, and other allium-family plants), or pure vegetarian (excluding egg, dairy, and "five pungents"). Sauces made in-house. Vegans should inquire about honey. When English is needed, chef Dileep comes out and explains the menu. Relocated from 2, Alley 33, Lane 56, Zhongzheng 2nd Rd. Open Mon 11:30am-2:30pm, 5:30pm-8:30pm, Thu-Sun 11:30am-2:30pm, 5:30pm-8:30pm.

Real heat

The menu is in Chinese only, but look for 純素 for vegan options. I wanted to try their curry, and the waitstaff asked whether I preferred heavier or lighter flavors. I decided to go heavy, so she recommended the mushroom (洋菇) or chickpea (鷹嘴豆) curry. I opted for the latter and medium spiciness, which was hot enough to make me sweat: thanks for not going easy on me, Chef Dileep! 😆 I swapped out the rice that comes with the curry with garlic paratha, which didn’t have much flavor on its own but was a good accompaniment to the heavily flavored curry.

The mango lassi is also vegan since they use coconut yogurt. They procure organic mango at peak season and freeze cubes of it to use throughout the year. They also don’t add sugar to the lassi, so it has a light mango flavor dominated by the tartness of the coconut yogurt.

The samosas were also pretty good, especially with the sauce that came with it.

All in all, I enjoyed the dining experience. There were lots of mosquitoes in the restaurant though: maybe there’s a stagnant water problem somewhere nearby.

Tastefull

This place is great.
The food was super delicious, rich flavour, well seasoned. We tried a combo set including Masala curry, mushroom pasta, sallad, soup and naan.
The chef who is Indian helped us order as he knows best english, and he made all our food vegan and helped us to replace a few things on the combo set and also explained everyting in the menu. He was super nice, friendly and helpfull. This is the best Indian food i have had in a long time.

Pros: authentic Indian food, big portions, nice staff.

Cons: a little bit expencive.

Delicious Indian Food!!

Just finished dinner. SO GOOD. Hubs and I shared green curry, rice, samosas and plain naan. We took away so can’t comment too much on the dining experience but everyone was very nice. The hostess went and asked the chef (from India btw) to come and talk to us since he knew English. So nice! He made sure our order was vegan (they use Indian ghee). Also they do have English menu. Wish I could eat here every day. Also they have a small area with items for sale including curry powder - yum! Price was a little high (normal for Indian food) - 509NT was our total.

GENUINE INDIAN CUISINE!!!

This i such a rare thing to find in Taiwan. Living in TPE before I was desperately looking for an Indian Veg Place. Furthermore they are VERY CLEAR what vegan means and you can even get purely plant-based BUT with garlic, onions, etc. (people normally rarely get the concept). AND it is actually spicy if you want it. Having eaten out Indian before in Taiwan I already gave up that hope. All dishes were very flavorful, filling and satisfying!!

Pros: almost vegan and clearly labeled, spicy and/or garlic on request, quick service and friendly staff
