We were recommended to try Delice Vegetal from another business in Nantes - and even though it was a fair distance to walk we were pleased to find that it was very much worth the effort.
Read moreA small and wonderful patisserie that features delicious creations that please the eye as well as the palette. We chose 2 cakes (though I really wanted to buy 1 of everything) - a nutty chocolate whipped creamy slice and a vanilla cheesecake - both were beautifully made and presented.
If you are in the city and want to treat yourself to something special - please do head to Delice Vegetal - you will be pleased you did!

Had the pain au chocolat and a tarte aux citron meringuée, the latter being my favorite pâtisserie before turning vegan. I was so happy to taste it and it was just as delicious as I remember it. Also have sandwiches.

Le local mérite de se faire agrandir, au moins 2 petites tables rondes en hauteur avec 4 tabourets. À défaut il y a un petit coin pour une personne.

Kleiner Laden. Wohl auch wegen der Nachfrage ist das Angebot kleiner als in einer "normalen" Konditorei, aber von allem etwas - fluffig, weich, crunchy, mit Creme, ohne Creme.....
Wir hatten:
.Noisette-Cookies - innen weich, außen crunchy 5/5
.Eine Schweizer Flöte - fluffigster Blätterteig! 5/5
.Vanille-Flankuchen (ist mehr Kuchen als Flan, etwas zwischen Käsekuchen und Flan-Creme) 5/5
.Pain au Chocolat - original blätterteigig und fluffig (war nach 1 Minute weg) - 6/5 (ja 6/5)
.So eine Art Brioche mit Schokostückchen, nur in Kastenform - 5/5
Werden morgen vor der Weiterfahrt nochmal vorbeifahren. Da war noch diese Zitronentarte....
Unbedingte Empfehlung!
Ganz in der Nähe der Machines d'Ile (auf dem Weg zum Chateau).

Vegan bakery on Nantes ! - Edit
Delice Végétal is the only 100% plant-based bakery in Nantes, located near Les Machines de l'Île, a great spot to sample their creations.

When I visited, there were three gluten-free cakes available:
- Passion fruit and pistachio
- Raspberry and pistachio macarons
- A strawberry cake with lemon almond sponge, vanilla mousseline cream, strawberry confit, and organic strawberries.
And a large strawberry cake for 4-6 people.
Set menus are available with a sandwich, 1 cookie or flan, and a drink.
And of course, there are pastries, pain au chocolat, croissants, and Swiss bread! I tried their warm pain au chocolat, which was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
There are also madeleines, brioches, and fruit jellies.
In short, a sure bet in Nantes for a real plant-based bakery!
And a sweet potato brioche that I enjoyed for breakfast at the hotel.

I was impressed to find this fully vegan bakery who moreover displays it shamelessly. I tried a "jambon beurre" sandwich, 3 viennoiseries, a flan and a cherry cake and everything was delicious. Totally recommend. I am so happy this place exists in Nantes ❤️🤩

I planed to go here to sample the sweet treats with a drink. There is a bench where we could stand and eat but I really wanted a sit down break from sight seeing. We got a couple of items which were delicious and ate them in a park nearby. Some of the fancy looking items looked amazing but we couldn’t figure out how to eat them on the go. They do have some sandwiches too. A good choice for take out but not a cafe. I know it doesn’t say cafe - my bad. Definitely worth a visit. I might come back with a spoon and coffee in hand 🤣

We were expecting a larger offer/variety though, but I guess it depends on demand/supply.
As noted in a previous review, reception and communication was somewhat reserved. Which somewhat tempered our enthusiasm of visiting an all vegan bakery (which we don't often get a chance to do!!).
Only open 4 days / week, so we were lucky to be there on one of their opening days.

J'y suis allée un peu après 17h et il restait peu de choix, surtout en salé (quiche lorraine et sandwich jambon la vie fauxmage). J'ai testé la quiche lorraine et un Valentine (désolée pour les photos, j'ai pris à emporter et ça a légèrement subi le trajet ). L'ensemble est bon. Je n'ai pas encore goûté les madeleines.
