Authentic Indian food

Great cosy restaurant with friendly staff, the food is authentic and very tasty. The portion sizes could be better for the price.

Great food

The food was amazing. We had the Thali which had a little bit of everything. The service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Oxford.

Pros: Food , Atmosphere , Service

Excellent place

Indian restaurant with the best service possible. They will go above and beyond to make you happy. Making everything from scratch makes it possible to make the dishes glutenfree and take allergies into account.
It can be quite busy, so go there before you get really hungry.

Pros: The food, The concern for their costumers, The ambience

Delicious Indian food!

This restaurant takes you to India. The vibe is really relaxed. Luckily we had booked a table in advance, because it was very busy and people had to wait outside for a table.

The food was delicious. We ordered a snack platter to share with samosas and pakoras. It was really good! We also tried three different curries. Two of them were very tasty, the third (with potato and eggplant) was a bit boring in my opinion.

The service was a bit slow. We had to ask three times for tap water and my husband had to wait very long for his smoothie.

Go to this restaurant for delicious Indian food!

Outstanding food, service a bit slow

Simply loved the Indian food here. It's a really cute place and the staff is very friendly and humble. Had some of the sharing platters and everything was spot on. I particularly loved the samosas and pakoras.

The food is worthy of 5 stars and the vibe is also great, but unfortunately service at our table was on the slow side and we had to ask for tap water three times before we eventually got a small glass of water. Also the other drink I ordered took really long (the food even came first). Probably we were just a bit unlucky, because most other tables seemed to go at a decent pace. I have to take this in to account however, so a very well deserved 4 stars still. And as for the food, it's a 100% 5 stars place.

Pros: Amazing Indian food, Simple but lovely interior, it just works

Cons: Slow service

The Best Vegan Restaurant in Oxford!

This is the BEST vegan restaurant in Oxford. Not only do you get home-cooked food but it is also made with care and compassion. The chef and owner is an exemplary human being who truly cares for her patrons. I even got to order food that was oil-free and very much appreciate her flexibility. As an ethical vegan, I have often found it hard to find really healthy vegan places and I can say that Delhish is the exception that should be the rule: healthy plant-based food made with great care and served with warmth. I hope Delhish will remain open on all days so we can all benefit from it!

Pros: HEALTHY, TASTY, SERVED WITH CARE

Best Indian food ever

Wow, the food was incredible! The flavors are so intense and delicious. It’s the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Flavors I had never experienced before. Unlike every other Indian restaurant I’ve been to that mostly just offers standard westernized Indian food, this place is truly unique. I had almost never heard of any of the dishes. I was blown away! This is the kind of food I am happy to pay for, because I can’t make anything like it myself. Brand new flavor combinations. Also I had the best chocolate cake I’ve ever tasted.

Pros: Incredible flavors , Wonderful staff, Best chocolate cake ever

Lovely stuff

We got a big selection of food, and all the main dishes and sides were very good. The staff were also lovely. Not too expensive and a nice atmosphere in a small setting.

Pros: All vegan, Friendly staff, Cosy atmosphere

Different from most indian restaurants in the UK

You can get gujarati food or indian street food such as vada pav or chaat. I had aloo tikki chaat and mango lassi and my friend tried their thali. We were both happy with our choices.

Authentic and affordable Indian food

Me and partner were in Oxford for one night and were so chuffed to find a vegan place. Delhish has a nice atmosphere, it’s like being in someone’s living room. A nice cosy feel.

The food is really good. I recommend the chats and getting a bunch of sides. Thali is good too. Being an Indian it reminded me of authentic food from back home - so I’d recommend testing the starters and sides whose names might not be familiar to you. Dahi balle was my top dish.

It’s affordable too. The portion sizes are substantial. We over ordered but then took some of the leftovers home.

Jaya who owns the place and cooks the food is super nice. She comes out to speak to people and was genuinely passionate about her food.

Wow!!!

While I like all of the vegan and veggie places in Oxford, Delhish is in a league of its own. Not only the best vegan restaurant in Oxford, it may be one of my favourite restaurants ever! (And that's saying something as I travel A LOT). The food is delicious (I especially recommend the chaats, with a mango lasso to wash it down) the decor is warm and welcoming, the staff are friendly and the owner is lovely. And as a bonus the food is very reasonably priced! If I ever meet anyone who genuinely doesn't like Delhish, I'll eat my own hat!

Pros: Delicious food, Beautiful decor , Easily affordable

Great vegan Indian food

I chanced upon this on a quick stop in Oxford. I had lunch in the cafe and then took home the 5 curry deal to share with my wife that night. It was great. None of the Indian restaurants locally do any vegan options, so I was chuffed to find this. It’s about an hour from home, but we definitely go again and probably take some home too. BTW, I’m a big lad and I was happy with the portion size and the take home 5 curry deal was £25, easily comparable to what we spend on a take away at home for two. #Veganuary

Ok food but it's nothing special

I really like supporting vegan restaurants but this place is hard to like.
Food is ok but I had so many better Indian dishes in the UK.
It's cosy but was almost empty when we were there, would be too busy if full.

Drinks were horrible and very expensive. Tiny mugs of 'herbal tea' which turned out to be very strong black tea with added spices, so bitter, not tasty and with spices floating on the top.
Mango lassi had no mango in it just some orange colour syrup, weird texture, I left it even though I love mango lassi.
Portions are very small, so initially prices looked good but in the end we paid a lot because we ordered quite a few things to get full.
And finally, despite so few people in, service was extremely slow, long wait for the menu and for someone to take order. We got a first starter one hour after getting in and drinks when we were half way through the meal despite several reminders (and one of the drinks we wanted was water, instead of just giving it to us in a few seconds the guy just said each time that he would bring it soon), I felt the server didn't care at all about serving people.

Pros: It's vegan, Food is ok, Some decorations are nice

Cons: Tea and lassi were horrible, Slow and inattentive service

Left hungry and out of pocket

The hype for this place was misplaced, not worth the 5 star reviews and praise it’s getting. This place is marketed as the ‘Only Vegan Indian Bar & Restaurant’ but just because it’s vegan, it’s hard to overlook all the obvious reasons it’s lacking. Some, if not most vegan restaurants at least try to fill a gap in the market. But in the case of Delhish, ‘Vegan’ is not synonymous with ‘good food’ as their meal failed to impress and I left the restaurant hungry and feeling robbed. Overpriced and Overrated doesn’t begin to cover it.

Pros: All vegan menu

Cons: Expensive for the portions you’re getting, Dining area is cramped, felt like communal dining

Absolutely fabulous.

Wow. What an amazing place to visit. Sooooooo much scrummy food to choose from I couldn't make my mind up. Kid's loved the food too. All of us are vegan and if you want to try vegan food for the first time never mind vegetarian go here! Hospitality was fantastic too. We'll done.

Pros: Portion sizes are a bit vague.

Cons: Just a little bit expensive, not a lot.
