No vegan baked goods

We had some time to kill in Sanur while we waited for a bus, so we walked to this place in the hope of trying some of the baked goods.

Unfortunately when we arrived we were told there were no more of any of the baked goods. I think the server told us they weren't making baked goods anymore at all, not just that they were sold out for the day.

So we ordered a plate of the fried mushrooms. They were OK, kind of like fried calamari.

The server was friendly and the outdoor seating atmosphere was very nice. Maybe a nice place to go relax with a coffee or smoothie drink.

Pros: Nice atmosphere

Cons: No baked goods at all

Good bread

Very nice place with good bread. Come here only if you’re not in hurry. The cake was rather stale but sill quite tasty. Good price.

Cheap and tasty food

Good place with tasty food. I ordered mung bean omelette and iced cappuccino with oat milk, it was nice. A bit slow service and the bathroom could be better 🥲

Cute place hidden in a side street

UPDATE: Because we came here the very first day after arriving on Bali, then traveled Indonesia for 10 days and came back, I realized something:
1. It is extremely cheap, probably the cheapest place we have been to, granted the portions are pretty small but at least you can try more courses because:
2. They have a wider selection of local dishes than other places which only offer the usual nasi goreng, mie goreng and curry

The rest of my review still stands :)

A very cozy outdoors place with a dedicated vegan menu, they have both Indonesian specialties and other cuisine.
The food was very tasty, great atmosphere and nice staff.
Personally, I recommend the Nori tofu balls

Small Plates, Slow Serv, Got sick

Define is conveniently near immigration services if you extending your visa. It has covered outdoor seating, and unfortunately slow service (even by Indonesia standards). The portions are pretty small so it can get pricey if you are hungry.

I ordered the crispy mushrooms, rendang, and pizza. The mushrooms were by far the best, however the texture reminded seemed a little too stretchy for mushrooms (almost like calamari). The rendang was tasty but mostly rice, and the pizza wasn’t too great (and took 40 or so minutes to bake).

Overall it was a good experience until a couple hours later when I realized I was sick—probably from the ice in my drink.

Also, be aware the drink menu is not vegan — which make me hesitant about the menu.

Pros: Variety of vegan options

Cons: Food contamination, Not all vegan, Slow service

Vegan food, but not all drinks are vegan

This place is very confusing. Apparently the food menu is vegan but the drinks are not, which became apparent when we had to pay extra for oat milk instead of cows milk. When you sit down you’re handed multiple menus without further explanation about this situation. The food was good, but this left me disappointed.

Hidden in the city

We stopped for a quick lunch while running errands in Denpasar and were pleasantly surprised. This is a cute outdoor cafe with a few different vendors. We were the only people but assume it gets busier in the evening. Food was ok but not a huge amount of taste. Teriyaki mushrooms and omelette were tasty though.

Pros: All vegan, Outdoor seating, Quiet

Cons: Not an extensive menu, Quite a long time to get food

Great!

This was better than I had expected. Was thinking the tofu scramble would be basic, but it tastes good and the bread was also flavourful, toasted and drizzled with olive oil.

Staff seem nice; a relaxed and quiet place (I was there around 11 on a weekday) so nothing to complain about.

I noticed a little shop front but I didn't venture inside, seems like they may have more ice cream and bread during busier ( pre-covid) times?

Great!

Lot of tasty dishes and drinks. Staff are friendly and helpful. Usually a cool crowd of people there, playing guitar and hanging out, but it’s not noisy or super busy. Very relaxed.

Pros: All vegan, Nice vibe, Good wifi

Great food for a decent price

Went there a few times while staying in Sanur. Loved the iced vanilla and the caramel latte, definitely one of the best coffees I had in Bali. Had the blue vanilla latte too, looks super nice and fancy, but wasn’t necessarily my favorite. Also had the probiotik sparkling water - refreshing, not too sweet, I would have guessed it to be a bit more sparkly, but still super nice and refreshing.

In my few visits I tried the chickpea omelette (yummy, crispy, amazing taste, great that they were able to customize and make it without garlic for me), the sourdough jackfruit sandwich (awesome jackfruit, super flavorful, bread could have just been a bit less crispy), the scrambled tofu (definitely had way better tofu scrambles, not their best dish, also came with a sweet toast instead of sourdough bread) and last but not least the rendang bowl (flavorful, a little spicy, tasted really fresh, consistency was pretty realistic to meat, definitely one of my favorites).

Really lovely place to chill or work, a little off the busy, loud streets. Great wifi too. Staff is friendly. It was pretty empty when I went, hope people will go there as it would be a shame if it closed. Great vegan food for a good price.

Great vegan restaurant in Denpasar

We were looking for vegan food in Denpasar and decided to give this new place a try. It turns out that the owners have had a couple of other vegan restaurants in Bali and decided to open this space in Renon. The staff were great and we had super tasty iced lattes with jackfruit burgers for lunch. The air conditioned table was a nice suprise. They also have tasty baked products that they sell to vegan restaurants on the island. The prices we also really affordable and catered to local vegans.

Pros: Fresh baked buns, pizza dough and cookies, Close to Sanur and Denpasar, Easy access and parking

Cons: None, Wish they had a spot in Ubud

Not a bakery but great food

Very good value and fully vegan. There was not much by way of a bakery but the regular menu was good. We paid Rp135 for appetizer, 2mains and two juices.
