recommend going if you only have 1 night in labuan bajo! - Edit
Service: 3/5, Quality: 5/5, Value: 5/5
Read moreVegan Options: 2/5
Service: Service was OK overall. We had some questions about the menu and when we mentioned we were vegan they had recommended the black pepper tempe (tempe bumbu lada hitam). This is listed as vegetarian but is actually vegan, apparently. Some other items are listed as vegetarian but have 'vegan' in the item name. After we got our food no one ever checked on us to see if we wanted to buy any more drinks. We were left sitting at the table to pay but apparently we just pay at the counter and no one told us. No problem there, but would've been good to know!
Quality: I liked everything I tried which included the bihun goreng vege (vegan), tempe bumbu lada hitam (vegan), and cap cay kuah atau goreng (Vegan). Of these the black pepper tempe was my absolute favorite. I shared some of the sauce with my SO and another friend at the table who both liked it. The friend liked it so much he asked the owner what the secret was😄I can't express how much I loved this dish though. I had just been served plain tempe everyday for a 3 day excursion so coming back to labuan bajo and having tempe in such a delicious sauce was a treat. I'd recommend it to anyone who can take a bit of heat (it's not too much heat, but does pack a bit of a punch if you can't handle heat)
Value: pricing is good and portion sizes are filling. For a touristy area, the prices are fair and better than some other places.
Vegan Options: 2/5. More than 1 vegan option exists on the menu, and there is at at least 1 vegan option in a few different categories. I normally award a 3rd full point for a clearly labelled menu, however, the menu is labelled for vegetarian and then relies on you asking questions to the wait staff. To improve this score: have a clearly labelled menu for vegans (use an icon, like vegetarian, or specify it in the name), and have more vegan options-- enough to substantiate a vegan menu.
Additional notes: de waroeng is located on on the 2nd floor and has seating facing the sunset. Would make a great dinner if timing aligns!

Have a vegan/vegetarian menu - Edit
They offer a vegan/vegetarian menu.
Read moreMany of the items marked as vegan are actually not vegan! They have eggs or dairy.
When ordering make sure to confirm the ingredients.
The fried tempeh is a MUST HAVE - just perfect!
I ordered the fried rice noodles with tempeh and couldn’t be happier! Great view and amazing local food.

We had the black pepper tempeh, steamed vegetables, and bihun goreng. Both our fsvorites was the black pepper tempeh. It has a small kick to it.

Good value with good vegan options - Edit
Was highly recommended on Google and was nice that they understood vegan. A lot of options can be made accordingly. It was really nice but it was super busy and there was a long wait for food.

Delicious food with a beautiful view - Edit
Really friendly and helpful staff. A lot of places in the area don’t really understand what vegan is but they knew the menu inside out and we’re recommending substitutions to make things vegan for us. The food was amazing at about €3 per portion (which were quite big).
Read moreThe view was stunning too. Dinner at sunset is a must.
Can’t recommend this place enough if you’re vegan and want more local/traditional food!
