Nice place, great people but the food is way below par. especially for a restaurant that specializes in vegan food.

As a vegan who loves to cook, I know what food is out there and how good we can make the food.
The non-vegans will have a stereo-type idea about vegan food, and that get's confirmed with the food we ate here.
With more and more people getting aware of the vegan movement, or with a healthier way of life. A vegan specialist restaurant, should do it's utter most best to create mind blowing dishes (they don't even have to be complex, but asking for a burger, serve it a on a burger bun, with a good mix/balance of fresh produce and some vegan cheese.. instead of a warm-ish tahine saus and a salty/sour slice of bread. For the quinoa salad; it should be cold, when cooked added some salt or other herbs that give taste to the quinoa and a way higher ratio (2:2, max 3:2) then what we had (maybe 5:1))
Definitely will pass by again to have a new look at the menu, and try out a dessert or just have a drink.
Pros: vegan!, friendly staff
Cons: long waiting times, to stereotype (from meat eater perspective)

Specifiek de Herbivoor uitgekozen om vegan te kunnen eten in het centrum en gezien de goede recensies. Helaas viel het eten zelf ons tegen. De Seitanburger was te vet en had weinig smaak. Ook de salade met aubergine in kikkererwtenbeslag was zeer vet en door de veel te dikke beslaglaag die geen smaak had was het eigenlijk gewoon niet lekker. Verder was het vooral rauwkost. Zo jammer, want het ziet er verder prima en gezellig uit.

If you’re craving truly wholesome food, this is the place to visit. I enjoyed a chickpea tofu salad and matcha. The matcha is definitely of a ceremonial quality so that’s a huge plus. I went for the lime-tahini dressing—it was a bit too bitter for my liking. It was a very hot day and unfortunately they don’t have any air conditioning inside, but it’s definitely not boiling hot. I’ll be back whenever I visit Groningen again.

Read moreThe wrap with homemade seitan not only looks good, it tastes just like it! Fluffy wrap with a fresh, delicious, finely flavoured filling! The small tomato soup as a sidedish was really very small, but also delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was very friendly and there seemed to be a lot of regulars.

Nice place fully vegan! I had the seitan wrap and even though I don’t like pickled vegetables, I enjoyed the meal. The seitan is housemade and it was delicious, very tasty and soft with a bit of crispy crust! Ice tea was also nice.

I expected more from this place, but maybe it was just a bad night for the cook. The menu is short and seems to be changing. Which can turn out either way. You can be pleasantly surprised, I was not. What we had tasted okay-ish, nothing special. The flavours overall were a bit bland for me. The kofta in the wrap I had was partly burned. And for all that we paid quite a bit of money. I would not come here again and take a gamble.

It was a warm summer day so the perfect time for a nice salad. We had two very nice salads and a watermelon ice tea + green smoothie. The ingredients were great and noticeably fresh. Staff was friendly and a great terrace to relax in either the sun or the shadow. We just felt that around 17 euros the salads were a little bit too expensive for us. Also we are not super fans of large green lettuce in our salad. But the main issue was the somewhat high price.

Groningen mag zich gelukkig prijzen met deze lunchzaak! Je krijgt een grote portie en het eten is zeer smaakvol. De kaart varieert doordat gekookt wordt met de seizoenen en de beschikbare biologische ingrediënten uit de omgeving. Een echte aanrader!

So we shared. Even with half of it, I was already stuffed! Nice pancakes, although rather 'heavy' and definitely a sugar bomb with the syrup.
Would have loved to have more fruit, and less pancake.
I do wish we had lunch here at this place. Seemed like nice options on the menu!

Van reservering tot vertrek loopt alles zeer soepel. Het personeel is heel professioneel en vriendelijk en de sfeer is goed. Afgezien dat de portiegrootte van de pannenkoeken aan de ruime kant is, is het eten echt prima.
