The food is absolutely amazing. I got the Picadillo bowl with the plant based crumbles. It was delicious!

We go here every time we’re in Black Mountain! - Edit
My husband and I love this place. The food is delicious, the staff is universally knowledgeable about the vegan options, and dishes are labeled with a vegan sticker when they come to the table. The expanded seating area is a huge plus.

Authentic Cuban cafe - Edit
Tucked away in the charming streets of Black Mountain lies an authentic Cuban café that’s an absolute must-visit for food lovers—especially those with dietary restrictions. From the moment you walk in, you’re met with the cozy, welcoming atmosphere of a place that feels like home, yet serves a slice of Havana on every plate.
Read moreOne of the standout features of this café is its thoughtful menu, packed with vegan and gluten-free options that don’t skimp on flavor or tradition. Whether you’re plant-based or just trying something new, you’ll find satisfying choices that stay true to the rich, comforting essence of Cuban cuisine. Every dish is hearty and generously portioned—you won’t be leaving hungry.
But let’s talk coffee. The Cuban coffee here is simply outstanding—bold, smooth, and deeply aromatic. Whether you order it hot, iced, or as a traditional cafecito, it’s a cup worth savoring.
Service is equally impressive and friendly. The owner, Beatriz, is very hands on checking in on us numerous times making sure we’re happy with the food. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. It’s clear they take pride in creating a memorable experience for every guest.
All in all, this café blends authenticity with inclusivity in the best way. With impeccable service, cozy vibes, and food that hits the spot—especially for those seeking vegan or gluten-free comfort fare—this little Cuban corner in Black Mountain is a true culinary treasure. We left very content and with full belly’s!

Yummy vegan lunch - Edit
The veganized Cubano and Havana wrap were both tasty and served with a healthy portion of yummy chips. I appreciated that despite so many ingredients, the Cubano wasn't messy and easy to eat. Looking forward to trying the empanadas next time!

Great Vibe - Edit
…in this cozy spot. Authentic Cuban food (seems to me) with lots of vegan options. The jackfruit substitute for pork was very well done—looked just like pork and was very tender, blending nicely with the other fare. Vegan dessert treats and Cuban baked items to go, too!

So good!!! Will be back. - Edit
Great vegan options, fairly priced, excellent service. I tried the “pork” sandwich made with jackfruit on grilled Cuban bread, and it was great. I also split the yucca fries with a friend and they were the highlight for me! Also tried the vegan empanada and it was so good. Can’t wait to come back and try more things!

Truly lovely and delicious - Edit
We had a fantastic experience here from beginning to end. The Havana wrap and Santiago bowl were 10/10 in flavor and portions. The staff were all so incredibly kind and welcoming and the owner came and talked to us about her story and how happy she was to have us. It’s clear they genuinely care about this community and care deeply about providing *good* vegan alternatives to traditional Cuban dishes. This is a must go if you are in the area!

Very flavorful! And fast! - Edit
We went for breakfast and it was amazing. I got the Miami Brunch Bowl made vegan and it was one of THE best breakfast dishes I’ve ever had. Super flavorful and satisfying- not too spicy, not too salty, literally just right. I would highly recommend eating here. Breakfast spots are notoriously busy in this area, but we were able to go in, order, sit, and our food was ready within 10 minutes on a Saturday morning. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about vegan dishes. We also got the cafe mocha and subbed in almond milk- it was DIVINE! I don’t know that it was vegan because it does have chocolate in it and I didn’t ask, so if you’re fully vegan you may want to ask. They did say they were working on some vegan pastry recipes to add to the menu. Will definitely go again!

Food was tasty and the vegan options are very clearly marked so it’s easy to see what to get. The jackfruit pan con lechon sandwich with yucca fries was really good. Breakfast and lunch only…they close at 3pm.

Cute little place with quite a fee vegan options. I got the only vegan rice bowl and enjoyed it very much. Was very filling. Also got the fries which just didn’t taste right and the sauce had a weird aftertaste to it.

Limited options but good food! - Edit
They don't have a lot for vegans but I'm always grateful to find a restaurant that provides something! I get the Santiago bowl with black beans. It is full of flavor and quite filling. The tostones are good but a little too greasy for my palate. My husband gets the Havanah wrap and he really enjoys it. They do offer vegan aioli and garlic dip (for the tostones).
