Reported to be Thunder Bay’s first all vegan store, opened 2019. Sells plant-based foods and cruelty free products. Relocated from 875 Tungsten St. Reported closed September 2025.
Love love love Compass Foods. So many amazing food options, some that I've only been able to find here. Love that they allow me to be exposed to so many more vegan companies. It's so nice knowing I can walk in and not have to worry about checking labels.
It was a little hard to find but the staff (owner?) was amazingly knowledgeable and had items that my wife had unsuccessfully looked for in much larger metro regions.
I visit Tbay 3 times a year and make it a point to shop here when I’m in town. Even though Halifax has lots of vegan options, Compass Foods carries this I just can’t get out east!
We are so fortunate to have a vegan grocery store in thunder bay! I love how it's runned by a family and they're always so friendly. The product is amazing. Definitely a five-star review 😊
The best place to stock up on vegan goodies & snacks! So many options! Lots of special items too that I normally only can find in Whole Foods in the U.S. They also have fresh baked cookies which are delicious & “meet the alternative” sandwiches sold around lunch time!
Great place with lots of options and neat things to try. The only downside is that it can get expensive as many items are made by small independent companies and/or are imported. Can’t beat the selection though and the owners are very knowledgeable about their products.
This all vegan grocery store has a HUGE selection of great products. I particularly enjoy the The Herbivorous Butcher line of foods they import. They also stock household items like cleansers, soaps, etc. Great layout, everything is easy to find. Definitely a great addition to the vegan community in Thunder Bay. They even host BBQs on the weekend where you can pick up a Beyond Meat Burger.... if that's your thing.
Thunder Bay is so lucky to have this shop! There is an amazing selection of vegan meats, cheeses and other packaged goodies some of which I haven’t even found in southern Ontario. They have other items too like shampoos and bamboo toothbrushes. They will be selling local produce soon too. Lovely folks own it, definitely go check this place out!
