Worth a visit

I was traveling with my mom and she was dying to go here. It was a fun experience but the food was just good, not great, despite the price tag. I’m not sorry I went and would go again with Omni friends but wouldn’t go out of my way for it. The 25-cent martinis at lunch are a bigger draw than the food, but I appreciated their consideration of vegans at a historic place that doesn’t need to cater to us to fill tables.

Very decent

I don’t particularly care for the fine dining experience, but if you do, this is probably the best vegan fine dining you can get in New Orleans. Staff are very not only friendly, but seem happy and playful and are willing to help you modify existing dishes or work with chefs to order off menu. I got a hummus with roasted cauliflower as my appetizer, grilled mushroom with some kind of sauce (I forgot) over 2 slices of baguette for my main, and a sorbet for my dessert. Nothing blew me away, but for a fine dining establishment I felt that the vegan options were fairly well thought out. I was a little overwhelmed by the ordering with a waiter who didn’t fully understand the difference between vegetarian and vegan, but he was fully cooperative and I was able to leave with a full stomach. The only thing is the service was slower than I was expecting, I was there for 2 hours.

Pros: Friendly staff, Good food

Cons: Pricy, Slow

Works for vegans celebrating special occassions

We dined at Commander's Palace with 2 vegans and 2 omnivores for the omnivores' birthdays. We noted vegan in the reservation notes and the staff were prepared to get it right. Server came to the table prepared to explain what could be veganized and what the chef could do off-menu. This included appetizers, mains and even dessert (one already vegan, one veganizable). We enjoyed the vegan mains, though I don't think the chef has given them quite the attention as the regular menu items. Hopefully the more vegan diners who come here will motivate the chef to have a regular vegan item on the menu. We were not disappointed though and not bitter about paying a high price something mediocre as has happened at other places that don't really know how to accommodate vegans.

Wonderful and festive!!!

It was a wonderful start of our New Orleans trip!!! Also we celebrated my birthday at Commander’s Palace, and the staff were wonderful at making it festive and exciting😄The ambiance was perfect!!! And they made me a vegan entree (off menu, by request) and tweaked a salad to be vegan, which was much appreciated.
The only nitpick was the amount of salt in food. They kind of went ham on it. But honestly for celebrations I’d still be back😄

My Favorite Restaurant

I love Commanders Palace! They have great food with amazing vegan options daily. The dining rooms are beautiful. Their service is excellent. I always make it a point to visit when I am in New Orleans.
