Reported to be a family-run vegetarian Peruvian/Chinese restaurant. Serves food and sells some foods (soy chunks) and herbal teas. Mostly traditional Peruvian dishes veganized. Main can be -rice with beans and plantains -tallarin rojo (pasta in tomato-carrot sauce) with beans -fried broccoli with soy sauce, rice & soy meat -lomo saltado (traditional dish with rice, and sauteed potato, tomato, onion & soy meat. Located on a dirt road (area is safe) inside a huge hall, close to Mercado Don Paquito. Standing in front of Don Paquito (facing it), head left (forest on your left/shops on the right) for around 30 meters. There you will see their sign "Comedor Vegetariano". They are familiar with the vegan diet and can adjust menu for vegans. Open Mon-Sat 7:30am-5:00pm.

Great, simple vegetarian restaurant

We loved food in El Comedor Vegetariano, the owner is a lovely, friendly elderly woman and finding a place like this: health-focused, all-vegetarian but still traditionally peruvian, is not very common in towns his size in Peru!

Whe always had the menu del dia for lunch there.
They would serve wheat-tomato creamsoup, refresco del dia, a small salad, and main course. For main we had: Tallarin rojo (tomato-carrot pasta) with rice and beans, Lomo saltado (rice with a sautee of soy meat, onion, tomato and potato) , Brocoli saltado (brocoli fried with soy sauce , soy meat and rice), Rice with lentils and soy meat.

I definitely recommend this amazing small restaurant if you are looking for a vegan or vegetarian option which can be kind of challenging in standart peruvian places.

Pros: tasty traditional food, super friendly staff, inexpensive
