SEVERE FOOD POISONING - Edit
PLEASE READ: SEVERE FOOD POISONING! I went here for dinner on the evening before my departure. The day was spent with friends with whom I shared a few snacks. No one was sick and went surfing the next day. However, I had one meal by myself: Coco Fastronomy.
Read moreI ordered the Accras Pollo and the Carribean bowl with teriyaki chicken. I told my server I was unhappy with the Accras because they had a strange taste and had a glue-like texture.
However…..that same night….
I was awoken at 3am with serious stomach cramping and eventually spend the next day in the hospital. IV fluids, medication, blood draw, blood tests. And absolutely the worst illness I have ever endured.
I had to pay for 2 more nights at the hotel because I couldn’t walk.
I’m now on 5 days of antibiotics.
This is very serious.
I’ve read all of the reviews for this restaurant. It seems some people love certain dishes or drinks. Which I think would be a good guide if you do decide to eat here.
But one thing that is most alarming is the lack of care the establishment takes for their patrons who are unhappy. Any negative comments are met with profound denial and blame on the customer. In fact, I challenge the owner to admit they may have been at fault for anything!
As a restauranteur myself for over 30 years, I take cases of food poisoning very VERY seriously. If a client is unhappy with a dish, we kindly apologize and offer an alternative. It’s clear Coco Fastronomy lacks an element of hospitality beyond a street vendor.
I emplor the reader to look at the owner’s comments as they speak volumes about where their hospitality focus lays: taking care of their customers OR raking in a few bucks. If it’s the “bucks” they won’t care if the food is contaminated; they care that they get your money. VERY dangerous.

We found this place by chance, the staff was lovely and showed us all the vegan options on the menu. The bape specially is soooooo good!
