Serves meat, vegan options available. A very popular family restaurant located in the mountains above Alajuela. The menu has quite a few clearly labeled vegan selections from appetizers to mains including a thick tomato soup, yucca fries, salads, casados, patacones, house-made guacamole and more. Has their own organic garden and uses many fruits and vegetables. Check Facebook for updated hours. Open Mon 11:00am-5:00pm, Wed-Fri 11:00am-5:00pm, Sat-Sun 9:30am-6:00pm.

Good Vegan Options - Edit
Chubascos serves Costa Rican style Tico food but it was great to find they have clearly marked vegan items on their menu. Yucca fries, a thick tomato soup, patacones, house-made guacamole, salads, casados and more.
Read moreBeer and wine are available as well as fresh-made fruit smoothies that are obviously very popular here.
We were here on a Saturday and this large restaurant was full by 2pm.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
It’s rare to find restaurants in this area with vegan options on the menu.
The Starbucks Alsacia coffee plantation is just down the mountain and although they have a salad listed as vegan on their limited menu, Chubascos makes a great restaurant option nearby for a more substantial meal.
Addresses in Costa Rica are by general areas and landmarks only but Chubascos is easy to find.
Hours vary so check their Facebook page for updates.
