We really enjoyed our evening here; there was friendly service, great ambience and the food was varied and tasty. They can make every dish vegan (using tofu etc.). We shared a large vegan platter, which was great value. The sweetcorn and peanut soup, cocktails and chocolate and baobab dessert were all delicious too. Highly recommended and I would give 5 stars if I could (not possible for places that aren't fully vegan).

We chose Chez Ani, because it offered a good range of vegan options, because all eight previous reviews are good ones, and also because the restaurant was really close to our hotel. We had not been to an African restaurant before so we were little bit apprehensive, but we had no need to be! As soon as we entered the bright, cheery restaurant we were made to feel very welcome. We were given all the assistance that we needed to navigate the menu. This offered us a wide range of choices and they can also ‘veganise’ any other item on the menu!

It was a memorable experience! Next time we are in Strasbourg we will be back.

Nicely decorated restaurant. We enjoyed the African music in the background (not too loud, just great). Nice service, slightly on the slow side, but we wanted to take our time, so not a problem for us. We really enjoyed our time there, we had fried bananas to begin with (so tasty!), then my husband had the vegan thieboudiene and I had the vegan mafe (nearly all dishes can be veganized). Everything was delicious, and they also have great cocktails. I would definitely recommend.

The waiter was very friendly and heart warming. The food was very delicous and not too expensive. Our family enjoyed the stay and we would love to go there again. And even some of the none vegan options they offer were made vegan when possible if you ask for it.

Great African food in Strasbourg - Edit
Delicious African food in Strasbourg. I had the corn / peanut soup (delicious!!) as well as the tofu / rice in a sauce as well as fried plantain. Really recommend if you’re looking for a casual cafe.

Should be 5 stars, classic African dishes with vegan options galore. Very good flavors and presentation. Satisfies finicky Germans who can’t handle spice and more seasoned spice lovers with their delicious homemade hot pepper sauce (ask for it). Conveniently near the main train station. The juices are also highly recommended. The African hospitality makes you forget you’re only minutes from not so charming Baden-Württemberg.
