Above and Beyond - Edit
After reading reviews from Thai people and vegans, I had to try here.
Read moreI arrived about 20 minutes before closing, asking if they did take-away. I didn't hold onto much hope and at first the gentleman said they were closed. But he felt sorry for me as it was very late on a Sunday and he knew I wasn't going to get much luck anywhere else. He asked the kitchen if they could do me a takeaway. To my surprise they did! I got back to my hotel and opened up to the most delicious Tofu Yellow Curry (No. 33. Gaeng Karee, I think it was) (with jasmine rice), mild - just to my liking. He even let me sit in the restaurant and put on some ambient music while I waited. I've written this review 2 bites in, it's this good! I definitely recommend Chang Thai. Right, I'm off to finish my meal. 😋
Pros: Food, Service, Price
Cons: None

I'd put 5 Stars but Happy Cow says it must be an all vegan / vegetarian restaurant to rate it that, so 4 stars was the highest I could go. But there are plenty of options for vegans. 😊

Great, accidentally vegan dishes. - Edit
It looks like a traditional Thai place with a Thai owner and Thai staff and plenty of accidentally vegan dishes. I tried three different dishes so far, and they were all delicious. The owner is also the chef and she came out to see how I liked the food the one time I sat at the restaurant. She's a likeable, sweet lady with an infectious smile and laugh, and it felt as though she was asking because she took pride in her food, not just to tick a box. I can confidently recommend this place.

Dosyć basic, ale smaczne - Edit
Jadłam tom kha i makaron z tofu, basic w smaku, ale smaczne. Dania w menu nie są oznaczone, trzeba się wypytać o to co jest wegańskie.

Really yummy 😋 - Edit
I love this place. They offer super yummy authentic Thai food. My absolute favourite is the phad Thai. A lot of items in the menu are vegan, you just have to scan through them. I wish they would label them more clearly to avoid mistakes.

Highly recommend - Edit
Chang Thai is a welcoming, authentic-feeling restaurant that you’ll probably love.
Read moreThe two staff members that served us were charming guys that made us feel at ease in an instant with vegan recommendations and the offer of making anything vegan - some curries will have the option of veg/chicken/prawn etc but you can ask for tofu instead which they’ll happily do - and do well!
The spring rolls were the best I’ve ever had. Seriously, order the spring rolls they’re amazing.
We also ordered a fried tofu dish that came with a house-made lemon/peanut dipping sauce which was nice. The tofu itself was nicely fried but not marinated beforehand so very plain without the dip.
The Pad Thai Jay noodles were a perfect example of satay noodles that had an ever-present yet not overwhelming peanut taste.
We also ordered a choochee (maybe?) curry which we chose to have with tofu instead of the regular option of a meat, it was fantastic. The splendid use of coconut milk gave it that creaminess that is hard to find in vegan curries, a beautifully cooked dish with a deep lemongrass taste.
The tofu was cooked perfectly in both mains - light and crispy, not squeaky or chewy like it often can be.
We asked for soy sauce and the waiter also offered us to try a special house-made sauce similar to soy but spicier which was interesting.
Overall the value for money was very good and I would definitely return.
The portion sizes were kind and the flexibility available to make almost anything vegan means you can come again and again and not get bored. Although I’d definitely order the spring rolls on every return.

Great discovery - Edit
Most of their curries can be made vegetarian or with tofu. I tried the Gaeng Keaw Wan and the tapioca starter and they vere both delicious.
Read moreFast and very kind service. Their menu could use an update as the vegan dishes are not so clearly marked.
