My favorite in Chiangmai

I spent a few weeks in Chiangmai. I only patronize vegan/vegetarian restaurants. I ran into Cha Da by accident and it quickly became my favorite restaurant in Chiangmai.

Presentation was beautiful as well.
The place was clean, service was great, and they have aircon. And super fast WiFi.
Indoor and outdoor seating.
Price was the lowest I found (beautifully prepared and tasety padhi 50 baht).

They default to a western pallet so I had to request to make it spicey.

Pros: The dishes are all fresh, made when ordered., Every dish I had was excellent! , Price was the lowest I found

Cons: Menu somewhat limited.

Cheap Thai/Asian classics

Really tasty and very reasonable (mains around 100 baht, sometimes less). It's a nice place with friendly staff - the menu isn't as big as some places, but they have a decent selection of the big Thai and Asian classics like red, green, penang and massaman curry, pad Thai, spring rolls, a number of stir-fried, fried rice, a few desserts and lots of authentic teas.

Pros: Delicious flavours, Reasonable prices

Cons: Menu not as big as some places

INCREDIBLE vegetarian and vegan food

We loved Cha Da! They had the best spring rolls we've ever eaten! The menu is vegetarian, with lots of vegan options. I could eat here every day!

Excellent Vegetarian Food (No Onion or Garlic restriction)

We had a lot of great vegetarian food in Chiang Mai, but Cha-Da emerged as our favorite. Everything we ate here was fantastic and made-to-order. We do not eat onions or garlic and they had no problem accommodating us. The menu is not very big, but what they do, they do well. Don't miss this place if you are in Chiang Mai!

Tasty overall but was given non-vegan food

I went here twice, and my first time was a great experience- the potato salad included fruit, and the fruit smoothie (I requested mango/banana) was delicious. The portions were big and beautifully decorated.

However, despite signs on the menu that say “100% Vegan!” that is NOT the case. I ordered the pumpkin vegetables because it said 100% vegan right beside it, but once I started eating I realized it contained big pieces of egg I’d thought were tofu. I asked and they confirmed it was egg. They remade the dish but the menu is very misleading. Make sure to ask if there is egg in what you’re ordering.

It was VERY busy the second time I went as well - on a Monday night around 6:15pm, there was a lineup and many people left because it was full. They didn’t have many staff so we waited patiently til they could get to us. You may be asked to share a table with someone else if you come alone, it was a nice way to meet another traveller. Very kind people working there, just wish I hadn’t eaten a bunch of egg :(

Pros: Generous Portions, Friendly Staff, Most main dishes under 100 baht

Cons: Food labelled vegan is not actually , Busy times mean slow service, Use plastic straws

Delicious!

Really delicious vegetarian food. It gets very busy on Sundays so be patient because there aren’t a lot of people working there. But the food is definitely worth the wait.

Really delicious, authentic vegetarian Thai food. The staff were really welcoming and friendly - but don't go if you're in a rush as service was a little slow, particularly trying to pay!

高手在民間,一間不起眼的素食館。

如果喜愛食辣,推介冬陰公湯一流!

Pros: 泰/西cross-over菜式。, 飯/河粉各有特式。, 冬陰公湯夠辣,飲完全身濕透。

Cons: 價錢合理。, 坐位比較少。, 非常好味。

Cheap and delicious!

Had the best green curry of my trip here. It was filled with such a good mix of veg and tofu and was a great spice level. My sister got the Penang curry which was equally flavourful.
Was a really cheap dinner, 230 baht for both of us plus drinks and rice.
Would definitely recommend!

Pros: Great value

Simple, good Thai food

No frills place with a straightforward menu. Both the green and red curries were superb, and I love the option of riceberry rice. They also use riceberry to make their fried rice, which was great and loaded with seeds, nuts, tofu and veg. Prices good.

Small and clean restaurant with pretty much all vegan options.

We stumbled upon it. Delicious food, lots of food in a clean restaurant. Host was very nice as wel. Had fried rice (bf with egg, me without egg), mixed vegetables and sweet and sour veggies. Also a side of springrolls, which where delicious but it was not necessary because it was already a lot of food. The mango smoothie was also very delicious!

Pros: Pretty much all vegan options, Lots of food, Very nice host

Port in a storm

Came across this restaurant by chance as rain started to bucket down. Covid has decimated businesses in the old city, including vegetarian restaurants, so it was a lucky find.

Standard Thai dishes adapted for westerners. I had a good massaman curry with a watermelon smoothie.

Pros: Warm welcome, Cheap, Bright, simple decor
