Yeah it’s just fine

Yeaaah I agree with some people here, it’s all just fine.
We had:
- pad thai
- massaman curry (& brown rice)
- papaya smoothie (without ice and sugar)
- mango smoothie (without ice and sugar)

Paid 245 baht

Yummy but nothing special

We both had the pad Thai without egg which was nice enough but not something to go out of your way for. They had a good range of options (egg/no egg for Vg) and we were seated very quickly!

Decent but nothing special 🙃

I’ve definitely had better Thai food. There wasn’t anything particularly memorable here, though the prices are very affordable — I was actually surprised how cheap everything was! The place was completely packed and we barely got a table, so it’s clearly popular. My favorite part of the meal was the mango sticky rice — you can never go wrong with it!

Good Thai Food!

Although the restaurant is a bit on the basic side and rather unspecial, the portions are huge, the prices are cheap and most importantly; they really do know how to make Thai food. We love our food spicy, and despite ordering as spicy as possible in many different restaurants we found it was often still not made spicy enough. Not here! They actually did make it as spicy as we wanted. Somtam can't be eaten any other way!
If you don't like spicy, I'm sure they can do that too. We had fried tofu, fried vegetables with cashew nuts, spring rolls, rice and lemongrass juice. Everything was delicious and we got a lot of food for a very low price.
All food is vegan, egg is only available on request.
In Chiang Mai there are a lot of choices and this is one you should make.

Pros: Cheap, Make Thai food properly

Cons: Bit basic, Has the option of egg

Great place to eat near Thapae Gate

The service was really nice because the servers were really friendly and accommodating. We visited during Songkran and the restaurant allowed us to sit in even though we were very wet. The menu had a lot of options. There were so many options, that it was a struggle to decide. My family and I ordered a lot of food. The food was really nice, and the portion size was very big

Pros: Big portions, lots of options , Friendly Staff

Chada (not Cha-da)

I ordered a bit too much as I wanted to get a good serving of tofu and some veggies too. They packaged my leftovers to go which was great. The mixed mushroom dish was yummy and I loved the varieties of mushroom. I asked for European spicy but I should have gone for mild Thai spice for some punch.

Pros: Price, Location

Cons: Hawkers

AMA-ZIN

Been satirical with the title of my review as the restaurant is just Chada! I’m not joking when I say it is effin amazing though. Perfectly cooked fresh and delicious food at very reasonable prices. Very unassuming decor but you can’t eat paintings anyway. Yommm. This one is a must

Pros: All the food , Stir fried Mushrooms , Portion sizes

Cons: That I don’t live next door

Very recommendable!

Ate here multiple times during multiple visits to Chiang Mai.

Very good tasting, fresh food. The papaya salad is awesome. The portions are HUGE. The green and red curries are packed with veggies and tofu.

Freshly prepared, always served hot hot hot...

Worth the wait. Will come back for sure!

Worth the wait

Food here is delicious. The massaman curry and papaya salad were amazing.
It’s a busy place so service can take a little but not excessive - totally deserves 5 stars.

Huge portions and very good prices

Great food, service could be better

I really enjoyed eating here as I thought it might be all the rage with a line out front, it took me just over 15 minutes to get inside but from there everything was a bit of a slog, from having my order taken, to getting my food and payment, the wait staff seemed busy but at the same time had a very slow demeanour about them. I also had to share a table which isn’t a con for me but I know it is for some. Entirely made up for by the food though which was incredible and well priced.

Pros: Affordable, Great options, Social atmosphere

Cons: Line to get in, Slow service

Easy cheap healthy!

Very cheap prices, everything felt healthy and fresh, your typical thai foods. Usually is a line out the front.

Pros: Super cheap! , I think all vegan?

Cons: Can get busy and have to wait.

Highly satisfying Thai food

I enjoyed my lunch here and was very happy about all those tasty dishes. They clearly understand veganism and also allergies f.e. peanuts in my case. We had Pad Thai, Pang curry and Papaya salad alongside mango and passion fruit smoothies. Everything was just perfect.

Pros: Vegan labeling , Allergy information in menu, Cheap

Great, freshly prepared food & lovely staff

We have visited this family run restaurant regularly during our time in Chiang Mai, for the friendly service and tasty, fresh food. Good range of veggie only dishes and open all day.

Pros: Tasty, fresh food, Lovely staff, Great choice

Cons: Can get busy because it’s popular

Nice family owned restaurant, if a bit touristy

Not the most authentic spot, but still tasty thai food.
Prices are not too bad, and the family operators are very friendly.
A valid option if you're in the area, but not really visited by locals. At least not when we went and the place was packed with tourists.
Still recommended 👍

A bit disappointed

We were looking forward to our meal here after reading the raving reviews, but I must say that we were a bit disappointed. My husband had the fried cabbage and the fried tofu, and both just tasted of garlic. While we are used to that in Thailand, this time it really was a lot. I had the Tom Yum and it was so, so oily, I could hardly eat it. So all three dishes were missing some balance in our opinion.

The staff were nice and the restaurant clearly is very popular with tourists (it was crowded every time we passed), and the choice of vegan dishes is large.

- Visited in July 2024 -

Pros: Good location, Large choice of vegan dishes

Cons: Unbalanced meals (at least those we had)

Amazing Pad-Thai

We just had a really good dinner here. The portion sizes are great as are the prices. It is clearly marked on the menu which items could be prepared without egg. Also, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about vegan options. We will definitely come back here.

Pros: Great food, Good portions , Quick service

Cons: Not completely vegan
