First off, I've always enjoyed Centre Street. I think their outdoor patio is fantastic. However, I don't recommend them for their vegan options. They used to have a fantastic vegan burger, but I literally only had it once until they swapped it out for something completely different and eventually removed it from the menu. Every time I go it feels like they are less vegan friendly. They may have even changed owners at some point in the last couple of years? My advice- go here for a beer, but don't expect a meal unless you call ahead to confirm they have something on their menu.
It’s nice that the menu lists vegan options, but the veggie burger isn’t anything special. Menu lists it as a “seitan burger” but it tasted way more like a bland falafel. It was topped with nice fresh avocado and other veggies. Honestly would be really yummy if they replaced the patty with a Beyond Burger. I wouldn’t seek out dinner here, but if I was here again, would def order the burger to satisfy hunger.
The pizza was marina, tomatoes, and raw spinach which was blowing away in the breeze and a little complicated to eat 🤣. The only redeeming quality was the chopped basil on top tasted great. I tried to order the burger a few months ago and they told me it was a portabella and not the seitan.. but now that I see they have it again I might go check it out. It’s nice to have an outdoor bar that we can go to this summer even though the food isn’t that great.
I have been here many times for drinks and what not, and was very exited to see they had vegan food on the menu, a pizza and a burger. I jumped to the burger cause it’s not everyday you get a setain burger out! But the burger was really really nasty. Didn’t have any taste, and the taste it did have was a “fake meat” taste. As many of us vegans know you can make a burger with a good taste, even if it isn’t meat. It also came with vegan cheese which I was excited about.... and it was cold on the burger which again made it unappealing.
