Beauty in Belize

Cayo Twist was one of the best dining experiences during my visit to this charming country! The staff was friendly, and forgiving of my rusty Spanish language skills, while I tried to prepare myself for a few more weeks of inquiring about the actual “fully” vegan status of food being served in public.... Hahaha! It turned out that all the establishments in which I ate had either English speaking staff members or obviously actual “fully” vegan options.... I enjoyed lots of fresh and simple foods-from cafes or groceries-between the jungle and the beach. Unfortunately, I lost my phone—or I’d have great pictures for a handful of places on Caye Caulker; my ice cream at Cayo Twist had already made it to my Instagram account, so I’m happy to add a “Definitely Must Visit” review and a simple, happy image.😄

Pros: Vegan , Friendly , Unexpected

Amazing Vegan Ice cream in perfect spot

We had some wonderful Vegan Ice Cream here after going to the Market in San Ignacio. The place just moved after 17 years. It’s now right across the street from the market in the closest shop off Savannah St. making it easy to find near the welcome center of town.

Pros: There were about 20 differentflavors of ice cream, All Vegan!!

Super Great vegan ice cream

Cayo Twist is located downtown San Ignacio, instead on the upper road . The owners were super nice and anxious to help provide vegan ice cream . Very nice experience.

Pros: location near main outdoor market place, Near taxi stand in San Ignacio

Delicious treat!

We were very excited to find Cayo twist! The ice cream was great and was very reasonably priced - 4 cones were only $5 US!

Pros: Vegan ice cream!!

TASTES LIKE REAL ICE CREAM

Omg.
This ice cream is so good. Every flavor and every kind of ice cream here is non-dairy / soy-based. I tried the chocolate banana scoop, the strawberry vanilla scoop, and the Oreo sundae (which was more like a blizzard). All of them were so amazing.

Pros: Tastes amazing., Dirt cheap., Unique flavors

Cons: Odd hours, Sometimes they run out of flavors

best soft serve I've ever had!

What a delight to see this on our way back into San Ignacio downtown. They have a variety of options, including milkshakes, blizzards, sundaes, and soft serve! It is soy-based. Even their cones are vegan. The owner, Sandy Perez, is awesome and super friendly. It's a very cute place.

Open only Thursday- Sunday evenings, but absolutely worth the trip!

Pros: waffle cones are vegan! price is very affordable.

Best ice cream in San Ignacio and it's vegan!!

Cayo Twist is a small wooden building with a large patio for casual seating. They have a hand-written sign with featured flavor choices, a window to order and another to pick up treats. There's usually a line, but you shouldn't have to wait very long.

The ice cream is soy-based and it's all handmade there. It's good, and seems sent from heaven on most days with the heat and humidity in Belize. You can get waffle cones ~$2 USD with either soft serve or scoops or a quart of ice cream to share or take home ~$5 USD. They also have special treats like sundaes and other creations but I think most people just go for straight ice cream.

It's toward the edge of town in San Ignacio, going towards Guatemala.

Very recommended! Just check the hours carefully since they're pretty limited.

Pros: Tasty treat, Affordable, Plenty of choices

Cons: Limited hours

Great Ice Cream

Cayo has really great non-dairy icecream. It's made with a soy-base and is run through soft serve machines. It's tasty. In fact most people don't even know it's non-dairy. The place also has a great feeling to it. It's got a nice outdoor seating area and white Christmas lights.

Pros: Good, Cold on hot days, Cheap

Cons: Up a large hill, Open terrible hours
