Tasty and vegan friendly Syrian food - Edit
I’d heard from several people that this Syrian restaurant serves the best falafel in Istanbul, so I was curious to try it. Is it the best? I’m not sure, but we certainly enjoyed it.
Read moreA quick heads-up first: HappyCow lists this place as vegetarian, but when we visited, we noticed that some dishes can also be ordered with meat. So, as far as I could tell, it isn’t actually a fully vegetarian restaurant. Many dishes come in meat, olive oil, or butter versions. If you’re vegan, stick to the olive oil dishes and make sure to ask whether they contain yogurt.
We ordered the falafel and hummus. We also ordered the olive oil fatteh and asked for it without yogurt. The sauce still tasted a bit yogurty to us. We asked twice to make sure it was vegan, so I don’t want to wrongly accuse them. It’s entirely possible that the creamy-tangy texture came from aquafaba, tahini, and lemon. Still, since I couldn’t be completely certain whether there was yogurt in it or not, I thought it was worth mentioning. The portions were satisfying, the prices were reasonable, and overall we had a good meal. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend giving it a try.

Delicious syrian food, best falafels - Edit
I loved this restaurant located in the Syrian neighborhood, away from the main touristic places. Food is fresh and very tasty. The falafels are the best I have had so far.

I didn’t find Istanbul to be particularly vegan friendly, this place tho is perfect for vegans. the place is full of local people, the dishes are authentic and delicious, and the people were super friendly and welcoming. recommended!
