No Longer the Same Sandwich

They used to have a really good vegan fried chicken sandwich, but recently I went and it had changed and was just some kind of gardein-like patty. Waitress said the woman they got the vegan chicken from went out of business. Still two stars because they have this option, I think a burger, and vegan collard greens, but I probably won’t bother going again now that the sandwich is so sad.

While I’m disappointed that they got changed the patty, I am happy they made it work and kept the sandwich on the menu. A lot of places would’ve just said screw it and ditched the sandwich all together. Especially with it being a vegan item. Gotta give em props for keeping a vegan item on their menu. But I did like the first patty way better 😩 the one they have now is still good, don’t get me wrong. But it definitely tastes like gardein.

Good Chickn Sandwich

I enjoyed the vegan fried chik’n sandwich. It comes with a white bbq sauce and pickled green tomatoes. While the flavor was good, I will say that the sandwich was a bit plain for me. I would have liked more veggies on the sandwich: lettuce, tomato, onion. It was served with a waffle fry that had a tasty seasoning on it, similar to curly fry seasoning. I have to say, the star of the show were the vegan collards. They were the best I have ever had. Overall, it’s great that they do have a couple of vegan options even though it’s a southern style restaurant, which typically wouldn’t have vegan options. They do also have an impossible smashburger, which I didn’t try. I would probably go back again and maybe next time ask for the added toppings on the vegan chik’n sandwich.
