Best food I've eaten in Italy! - Edit
Since arriving in Italy I feel like I look like a loaf of bread! I have been filling up on mostly bread due to eating fairly bland tasting food at most of the places we have eaten. To be fair we have only travelled through Rome and Sicily so far, but I am a total foodie and really missing some delicious, as well as nourishing food since arriving in Italy!
Read moreWe checked into our hostel today and looked up veggie restaurants in Florence.. while I was a little disappointed by Rome, I thought Florence might raise the bar.. We found this place was less than 5 minute walk from our hostel so decided to head there for a late lunch.
We arrived at 2.30 - half hour before the kitchen closed - and the place was still relatively busy from the lunch crowd. The waiter asked if we had a reservation - I replied that we didn't and he said no worries he would just need to clean off a table. We waited a couple of minutes then were taken to our table. The restaurant has bookshelves filled all the way around and has a lovely ambience with artwork all around too - I really love it!
Looking through the menu, there didn't seem a huge amount of vegan options, but I wasn't too worried as all the meals I saw coming out looked amazing. I decided to try the asparagus & green bean flatbread as the chickpea, fennel, celery & dill salad. Both wonderful choices! They were super delicious and also nourishing - you could taste the good quality of the ingredients - and this is what I love a bout good veggie food! My boyfriend ordered a tomato pasta dish and really enjoyed his too and he really loved the chickpea fennel salad too!
Prices are pretty cheap - well we thought so after being in Rome.. 6 Euro for a big salad and 7 Euro for each of our meals.
We heard the place gets booked out so booked a table for the following night. As we are from Australia we eat dinner a lot earlier than most Italians so we booked for 7pm - which turned out to be a great idea as when we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant and there were candles and beautiful laid tables it felt so private and lovely. The staff were wonderful and the food was wonderful again. The only dish I was a little disappointed with was the fettucini with spring greens & lemon - I found it a little bland. Everything else - flatbreads, salads, wine - delicious!
Highly recommend for a delicious and nourishing veggie meal in Florence! Just make sure you book if you go at regular meal times as I think they get very busy! :)
Pros: Food! :), Decor & Ambience, Location
Cons: Vegan items not labelled, Fettucini w lemon and greens

My dream 💖 - Edit
Fantastic food, amazing atmosphere as the restaurant is almost a bit hidden behind a bookshop. Such special dishes and vegan options, and you can even do a tasting menu and try more dishes in smaller sizes! Would recommend getting a reservation as the place is often full already.

Great food - Edit
Came here on a Thursday night, and it was a little confusing because it looks like just a bookstore. The restaurant area opens at 7, and we happened to come by at 6:30 so we booked a table. Restaurant is to the left when you come in the door. There’s a separate dining area through another door, which is outfitted with books and bottles of wine.
Read moreThey had several vegan options on the menu, and you can do an all in one plate to try three things for 20 euro or order something individually for around 14 euro. Food was super good. What I ate seemed Indian inspired, but it had unique flavors (dosha, a basmati rice dish with ginger, and avocado carpaccio). Pay at the counter after you’re done.

Fantastic Meal - Edit
Brac served up some of the best food we’ve had in Florence. We each went with different Piatto Unicos and got a beautifully balanced meal. The seitan Marsala was outstanding, and the pasta of the day with seasonal artichokes was fantastic.

Loved the food here, highly recommend. Did get an attitude from one employee at the register (same one) both times we went in. Everyone else was friendly and helpful. I’d recommend this place the creative dishes and the cool bookstore vibe.

Great, not overcrowded by tourists. Hours are incorrect on Happycow - Edit
I won’t update the opening hours on Happycow because no one cares anymore, but FYI - it does not close during lunch time, it opens non stop from 10am to midnight. Great library and coffee place where you can finally relax without tourists being everywhere

Best food we had in Florence - Edit
Tried a couple of times to get in here and couldn't, so if you're passing by- do go in and book. We finally got in for a late lunch, and were so glad we did.
Read moreWe both had the primo unico- which is a plate of their salad, primo and secondi courses together.
The salads were really tasty, especially the apple, cabbage and pomegranate one. The pastas too were superb, and especially the linguine were outstanding- this dish was so layered in spices and herbs it was really incredible. The star of it all may have been the seitan masala though- a brilliant, creamy sauce and really tasty seitan.
The majority of the Al a carte menu is vegan, which only a couple of options that are veggie, so id highly highly recommend this place. It's a great place to sit in too. And lovely wine.
Pros: Seitan masala, Spicy Pasta, Apple salad

Tasty vegetarian cuisine - Edit
You can get three generous portions of a salad, rice/pasta, and special on a single plate for only £19. It feels like a good bargain compared to some restaurants in Florence. The food is very varied and interesting and a nice change. The atmosphere inside is very nice as it is a bookshop/cafe.

Lovely selection - Edit
Nice to see a fully vegetarian menu in Florence. Cure and cosy bookshop with relaxed vibe. They only have 11 tables so you really need to book to avoid disappointment.
Read moreI had the mix plate for 20 euros which was a salad, pasta or rice and then a special. Nice portion and good to be able to try a selection. I went with a non vegan friend who had the lasagne, she said it didn’t taste of much.
The desert was a bit strange, but my friend enjoyed the cheesecake. A solid option in Florence and I would go back
Pros: Vegetarian menu, Bookshop cosy vibe
Cons: Lasagne didn’t have much flavour , My desert seemed a bit strange

Simply amazing - Edit
The place is very cozy, inside a book shop, with a great atmosphere and classical music. We went for a menu where you can choose a salad, first and second plates for 20 euros. It is very well served and certainly more than we would ask. You also have a starter and water included. Half of the menu is vegan. Simply amazing!

Delicious, special and artsy - Edit
We truly enjoyed the lunch here. We both took the option to choose 3 dishes for 20 euros. The menu contains dishes and ingredients that we've never had before. It tasted really good. The place itself is also cool: an artsy vibe, nice indoor and outdoor seating and a library with art books.

One of Our Two Favorite Restaurants in Florence - Edit
Awesome variety of dishes, and completely different from the standard Italian fare you’re used to. The chefs really know what they’re doing. The lunch special for 20 euros was amazing value for money (either two dishes and a salad or just the two dishes with bigger portions - we opted for the latter). Very nice servers, knowledgeable about nut and peanut allergies. I’ve never tasted vegetables cooked this well. Lots of creativity too, and great atmosphere.
