Great Vegetarian Food (No onion or garlic restriction) - Edit
We had great food here several times during our stay in Chiang Mai. It was great to be able to try a vegetarian Khao Soi. They had no problem accommodating our need for no onion or garlic in our food. One of the owners liked our vibe as a couple, so they offered us free dessert if we came back on valentine's day. We did, and they made good on their offer :).

Good Khao Soi - Edit
I’ve had Khao Soi which was really good (although you can have a better one at Mr Green). The fresh coconut was delicious.

Very good! - Edit
I liked this place a lot. The staff/owners are extremely nice and my food was delicious. The place is quite rustic but has charm and character. I had the Tom yum soup with brown rice and a vegan brownie for desert. The flavors were amazing.

Organic Veg & Vegan - Edit
Lovely little veg/vegan restaurant on a sleepy little soi in The Old City. The food is freshly prepared, organic and EXCELLENT. The staff is so friendly and polite, however their English is a bit limited. Menu is in English, so if don't speak Thai (fortunately I do) be prepared to do a lot of pointing. Also, if making special requests, be prepared for mistakes even if speaking Thai.
Read moreHave had breakfast, lunch and dinner. The vegan fruit pancakes are awesome. This is a fave dining spot in Chiang Mai (among many) and determined on trying nearly everything on the menu.
Added bonus! Although beer is not on the menu, asked for it anyway and immediately someone was on a motorbike and back in a few minutes with the beer I requested!

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Most/all items will be prepared vegan if you ask, English menu

Wanted to love it but - Edit
It was such a cute location with great options, they even make their own soy milk. But unfortunately I can’t give 5 stars because: they brought the wrong drink, there was no tofu in the “noodle soup with tofu”, food was a bit bland, and the toilet was flooded (you have to take off shoes at entrance, not nice when barefeet!)

Terrible behaviour by the owners - Edit
This review is about my experience with the Bodhi Tree Cafe laundry service.
Read moreThe owners are a Thai woman named Ubon Lotus and her French partner Marc. He is usually working at the cafe while Ubon is there only occasionally. I had brought my laundry there three times. Everything went fine until the day I came to pick up my laundry again (all my underwear) and they could not find it. After searching for it everywhere, they suggested we to wait a few days because it may have been wrongly given to someone else who would hopefully return it. A few days later, nothing had been returned. Then they suggested they look at the camera (CCTV), to see if maybe someone stole it, which took them more than a week for some reason. Every time I came by to ask about the progress, Ubon gave me some vague reason why they need more time to check the tape. When i mentioned about a compensation, she told me they talked to their lawyer and they don’t need to compensate in any way. Ubon then said that they are not even sure if I really brought my laundry to their place as they could not see me on the camera, Marc nodded. This is actually the main reason why I post this story. I had given my laundry personally to Ubon. Yet they were fine to accuse me of lying. Finally, due to my insisting, they gave me a paper stating they are willing to compensate with 1.000 Bahts (on this paper they admitted losing my laundry though…).The cost of the loss for me is around 200 euros, mostly 17 pieces of reasonable quality French underwear from the brand Etam. Needless to say, you don’t buy second hand underwear to make up for a loss.
I also went to the tourist police and made a report (in the attachment), but as I don’t have a laundry receipt, as it is common usage in Thailand, there’s not much they can do. The purpose of this writing is to bring the careless behaviour of Bodhi Tree Cafe owners with their customers to light. Moreover, they showed a severe lack of dignity by going as far as to accuse me of never bringing my laundry there.
Hope this testimony can help future travelers
Cons: Owners and staff ethics

Sorry this happened to you! She probably kept that expensive underwear for herself! Similar things have happened to me but I usually got it back...even going into their room and getting it back!

Poor service - Edit
Just got some cakes to take away which were great, especially the chocolate lava cake. However it took 20 mins for them to sort it out (to hand over pre packaged products), with staff coming across as disorganised and spacey. When we’ve been there for a yoga class we’ve seen them get confused and ask what we’ve ordered & forget others orders. When we went for drinks it took ages for my drink to arrive to the point of thinking they’d forgotten it. When it came to pay they tried to charge us double the price, and they had to be corrected twice and for us to get out the menu and show them what we had and the costs. This has put us off going there for a meal #Veganuary

Great place that's open late - Edit
Good vegan/vegetarian place that's close to the Chiang Mai Sunday night bazar and is open late. Ideal for a post-shopping , relaxing meal.
Read moreThey do tend to get orders mixed up though so be sure to repeat your orders a couple of times. This could be due to the language barrier but the host is very understanding. #Veganuary

Great food, relaxed place, decently priced - Edit
This place has a good selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. For drinks make sure you specify if you need vegan milk (we got matcha tea with cow milk by default). The place also offers yoga and meditation classes. Very good Burmese salad and Tom Yum soup. We came here everyday when in Chiang Mai. You can chat to the French 🇫🇷 and Thai 🇹🇭 owner couple here as well who are very relaxed and friendly.

Nice - Edit
Good food and nice location. It was was a bit difficult to communicate (English is not very well) and for what it is a bit overpriced. We waited over half an hour for our stir fry. Still a very good option and we can recommend the place.

Cozy restaurant with a great vibe - Edit
This cozy restaurant would definitely get a second visit!! They’re plenty of options on the menu with the food made to order. I ordered the Pineapple fried rice as an entree and was completely blown away with all the flavors they were able to capture in this dish. Also give the Limonana with fresh peppermint and lime drink a try…you will not be disappointed.

Thai and western food - Edit
Found this little spot after searching for a place to eat when most of the restaurants were closed.
Read moreReally appreciate that they close late (they told us between 9-10 pm), so don't run around the city searching for a place to eat. Go directly here, you won't regret it!
As per the food, they offer a huge selection of western and Thai vegan food, some of them are vegetarian but easily convertible to vegan, just ask the staff! They are super careful.
We went for a Thai rice, absolutely delicious!
Pros: Closes late, Cheap
Cons: May not be easy to find - small street
