Vegan Khao Soi - Edit
Bodhi Tree was one of the stops on a Khao Soi Crawl I recently hosted. 20-25 of us gathered at the restaurant to taste-test a small portion of Bodhi Tree's Khao Soi and rate it based on a variety of categories.
Read moreHere is a summary of everyone's written feedback:
The dishes served were inconsistent, so the feedback was as well. Some had thin, vermicelli-like noodles, while others had thicker noodles, more similar to the other restaurants. Those who had the thin noodles said they were too thin, and those with thick noodles said they were soggy/gummy as if they were overcooked. Everyone seemed to like the amount, variety and quality of the veggies and tofu in the Khao Soi, but some complained there were not enough toppings, or their toppings came late. Reviews of the curry were mixed as well. Many thought it was more authentic than the previous restaurants, but several said something along the lines of “delicious, but not Khao Soi.” Some said it was a good mix of creamy and spicy, yet others thought it was too spicy or said all they could taste was the chili. The amount of curry that came with the noodles and vegetables was also inconsistent, with some saying there was not enough.
Here are the average scores out of 10:
Authenticity - 6
Value for Price - 7.25
Curry Flavor - 7.55
Quality of Noodles - 5.3
Amount and Variety of Fillings - 6.4

Delicious Thai food - Edit
We had a pad Thai, massaman curry, baked spring rolls, pumpkin soup and a gaspacho soup. All of them were 1st rate.
Read moreMy partner is Spanish and she was particularly impressed with the gaspacho soup.
Portions and prices are good. All dishes were vegan and all except the massaman were without chilli on request.
They also offer a cooking course which we are going to do before we leave Chiang Mai.
We did the cooking course and it was a lot of fun. They were able to tailor the dishes for us to leave out the chillies. So for the 1st time in almost a year I was able to eat massaman curry! From scratch, raw massaman paste ingredients to cooked curry! It didn't come out red, more brown. But I think with a small bit of tinkering at home I could make it red, it was delicious anyway and spicy from the other herbs. My partner learned to make khao soi from raw curry paste ingredients to cooked curry again without chilli. It was also delicious.
We made a som tam papaya salad, green curry (without the green curry paste because the one they had was with chilli) so it was more like a coconut soup, but very nice.
We finished with sweet potato in ginger syrup (I forget the thai name) and mango sticky rice both of which were amazing. We had a lot of fun and stuffed ourselves to bursting point. I would definitely recommend!

Really lovely lunch! - Edit
The staff are really lovely and friendly! The food is so fresh and I would really recommend trying the penang curry because it's so flavorful and delicious! The restaurant is on a peaceful little street so it's a really nice place to eat at. It seems like everything on the menu can be made vegan so there are plenty of options.

Healthy tasty food and friendly staff - Edit
We are here on our first night in chiang mai as it was close to where we were staying and has got such good reviews. We were not disappointed. The staff were lovely; the atmosphere was chilled. We sat on comfy mats on the floor and ate really delicious food. We shared spring rolls and I had a red Thai curry and my boyfriend had green Thai curry. Both were tasty. We had asked for them to be spicy and I'm glad we did as I suspect that it wouldn't have been quite hot enough for our taste if we hadn't. I had planned to have a desert but I was too full! We returned twice during our stay in Chiang Mai because it was such a nice place.

Healthy food - Edit
We had the pumpkin soup (for our taste it was blend, just puth some pepper in it), a few slishes of bread and some homemade humus. It was all really fresh! I was disapointed with the desert, the vegan cheesecake. It took really long to be at the tabel and it was still half frozen. Therefore I wouldn't order it again.

Nice Place! - Edit
We came here a couple times while in town for lunch and for an afternoon to work on planning parts of our travels. Good curries and a nice hummus plate with veggies. For lunch we sat at a table with chairs. While working, we sat on the floor with a short table and cushions.

Chill spot. Delicious veggie/ vegan food. - Edit
There are alot of good veg/vegan options in Chaing Mai but Bodhi Tree is special. Great place to chill out on mats, read a book, drink coffee/tea, and enjoy some lighter Thai and western veggie/ vegan dishes. They also sometimes have classes like yoga, cooking. Last time I was there they were having a Mongolian throat singing class. Come check it out!

Relaxed vibe, fresh flavours - Edit
I came here on the recommendation of others but the day I came by, other places in the neighborhood were rockin but Bodhi was empty. Not to be deterred, I ordered a curry and a cucumber salad, and I’m so glad I ate here. Both things were maxxed out with flavour, the cucumber salad one of the nicest dressings I’ve tasted and it perfectly complimented and enhanced the salad. Nice people, yoga-vibe with seats on the floor and a quiet setting on a small street. Also very good value.

I am a regular here - Edit
It took some time to find meals here that I was really happy with.
Read moreInitially I always went because they had the best toast in Chiang Mai. (Sourced from Kasem Store) Take your choice of topping eg hummus, tahini etc.
Finally I found my favorite stir fry here. Just order what you like, rather than follow the menu. It helps if you can talk with the cook or the owner.
I like the relaxed feeling of the area with seating on the floor. The owner is friendly as well as a French man who is usually there assisting.
Central location in the old city is good.
Pros: Reasonable prices, Central location, Relaxed, Chill atmosphere
Cons: Can be hit & miss on some food
