Laid back vegan restaurant with a Bavarian tavern atmosphere est. Dec 2013. Serves Bavarian comfort food like kaiserschmarrn, schnitzel, and mushroom ragout. Also has burgers, salads, and a range of desserts. Note: Advance bookings recommended, because the restaurant gets very busy at peak dinner times. Companion animal friendly. Best vegan restaurant in Munich

I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to bring omnivore friends with you. Very often vegan restaurants have a lot of health food (bowls etc.) on their menu which is a bit too much for people that prefer traditional food.
Bodhi has a lot of Bavarian dishes and a great burger selection.
We also really enjoyed the interior and the music they where playing :)

Pros: Great food!, super friendly service, nice place for a night out

Empfehlung!!!

Great food

--I'd start just by stressing that they don't take credit cards. They only accept german debit cards, which could be problematic! (It's been mentioned before but I thought I should write it at the beginning of the review in case you don't read it all through)--

I had the schnitzel, then an apple strudel and a golden latte. The schnitzel was yummy, I really liked the texture of the soy meat. Although it came with a salad to lighten it up a bit, I would've prefered if it came with mashed potatoes instead of fries.
The strudel was good too. The sauce was tasty as it reminded me a bit of custard cream. But again, I would've prefered if it came with a scoop of ice cream instead of the whipped cream.
The latte was perfect. :)

Overall, the food is very good, the atmosphere was also pleasant, and portions were also rather large.
Not sure if it would be my first choice in Munich; but definitely in the to-consider list.

Pros: good value, yummy, friendly staff

Cons: none

auf die Schnelle...

Was veganes in der Nähe gesucht.

Great service, lovely food

We’ve been here twice now on both visits to Munich. The guys who run the place are amazing and really make your visit worth while. We tried vegan calamari here for the first time which was incredible. They have some really homely favourites on the menu to warm you up on a cold German night. Then to the bar for a cocktail or two after your food where the staff will be sure to make you laugh and feel at home. Worth a trip if you’re in Munich

Great food, awesome atmosphere

The place is very cozy and has a pub-like feel to it. They play good music and the general vibe of the restaurant is great. The staff spoke English very well and they were friendly.

The food took a little while to arrive, but it was worth it! We ordered the Keespatzn and the Pfanderl and for drinks we had a "Golden" milk and a ginger lemonade. First, the drinks were both great! The golden milk was hot and spiced, and the gingerade wasn't overly sweet and it was VERY gingery, in a good way. We enjoyed both our entrees. To my surprise it wasn't very oily or salty at all! That was a huge plus. The soy steak had an especially good outer crispy coating, I would definitely recommend trying that. We also got a chocolate mousse to go, which was rich and delicious.

Overall it was a great experience and we would definitely return again if we're ever in Munich.

Pros: Great atmosphere, Good food

Amazing vegan(!) Bavarian food

After looking for somewhere I could find some more local-style cuisine, I am so happy to have found this place! The food was absolutely delicious - I had the Pfanderl: seitan steaks, red cabbage, potato dumpling and beer gravy, followed by cherry and chocolate cake. There is also a large selection of beers (as well as cocktails). The staff were friendly and helpful.

I went on a Saturday evening and it was very busy - fortunately I was on my own so was able to sit at the bar, but otherwise would definitely recommend booking a table to avoid disappointment!

Pros: Great local cuisine, Generous portions, Fair price

Cons: Can get very busy - reservations advised

Awesome food!

I cant believe it took me this long to make it to Bohdi. I had avoided it for a bit because people said it was pretty unhealthy and everything was fried, but I didn't find this at all. Of course it's not the healthiest, but for a night out it was awesome!

The Asian burger was awesome, and the cauliflower wings were to die for.

I would for sure recommend

Pros: awesome food, reasonable prices

Poetry

I had probably the best burger I've ever had when in Bodhi. But let's start with the basics. Bodhi is a vegan restaurant placed a bit outside of the city centre, but close to where Oktoberfest is organised. They serve bavarian specialties and fast food stuff like burgers, and also offer a variety of drinks, including wines, beers and so on. The waiters were pleasant to be around, not overwhelming like at some places, and seemed really organised and knowing what they were doing. I ordered a full meal: a hot seitan burger, fries and salad, along with some Weizenbier. It was really a poetry of flavours, a ballet of spices danced along the juicy pieces of seitan, decorated with fresh vegetables, including neatly cut jalapenos. And the cheese sauce.... Oh my god, that cheese sauce!!! Really a perfect composition, it's a pity we discovered it on our last day in Munich, cause we would definitely have gone there again to try their vegan spatzle! If you are into vegan food and visiting Munich, you need to go to Bodhi, you will be blown away!

Pros: the food!, waiters

Cons: a tiny bit pricy, but worth it after all

incredible!

100% worth the trip out of the city centre! Wonderfully friendly staff, great atmosphere, perfectly sized menu. Extensive range of burgers or traditional Bavarian style food - I had the BBQ pulled jackfruit burger with country fries and spicy buffalo wings and it was one of the beat meals I've ever had! Go go go :) (take cash!)

Vegan food bavarian style

Bodhi is a very unique place as it offers traditional bavarian foods gone vegan. So you won´t have to miss all the wonderful hearty foods Bavaria is known for... starting with Keespatzn (the bavarian version of Mac and Cheese...just so much better) to a Soy schnitzel with Beer sauce, dumplings and red cabbage. If that is not your thing you can find a big selection of burgers as well, but I would stick to trying some of the bavarian dishes, they all taste exceptionally good. This is a place that is a must visit when coming to Munich.

Pros: Great traditional bavarian dishes, Great atmosphere, Fair prices

Cons: only accepts cash (latest info at time of posting), reservation recommended, only open for dinner, not lunch

Hearty, Delicious Food

I loved my visit to Bodhi! It was a great chance to try some typically Bavarian dishes, though there are other things on the menu too. For starters we had some calamari and buffalo cauliflower, both of which were excellent. I had the kaseepatzn, which was essentially a big portion of creamy mac'n'cheese - actually, the portion was insanely huge! My partner tried the pfanderl, which was just amazing: two big soy steaks, a kind of potato dumpling, red cabbage and a beer gravy. It was really flavoursome. For dessert, we shared the kasierschmarrn, which was deep fried pancake shreds served with apple sauce - delicious! All portions were so hearty, I would recommend sharing the dessert.

The staff were really friendly, and it had a good pub atmosphere. If you want to try some veganised local dishes, this is definitely the place to go!

Pros: Huge portions, Exciting menu, Good grub

Always satisfied

We visited Bodhi a few times and were always extremely satisfied with the food and the friendly staff.

This is a perfect place to take not-yet-vegans for a dinner to show them what can be made out of plants.

Pros: Great food, Friendly staff

Cons: Sometimes a bit crowded

Just So Delicious!!

We came here for dinner on our first evening in Munich, as it opened quite late, and we wanted some hearty, filling food. We were not disappointed. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and spoke great English. Everything on the menu was tempting, but in the end I went for the tofu steak in beer gravy with red cabbage and a potato dumpling. It was outstanding - so tasty, rich and filling. I also had the homemade ginger lemonade, which packed a huge ginger punch and wasn't sweet or sugary at all. Really wanted to try the dessert recommended by a previous reviewer, but was far too full! Will definitely be going back. Price-wise, it was a bit more than we usually pay (15 euro for a main dish) but totally worth it because it was such good food. Warm, funky environment, with traditional Bavarian elements. Note: We liked it so much, went back a second time. Sat outside in the late evening sunshine, and had the 'cheesey' nuggets to start (yummy) and then the polenta fillets in the mustard crust. So tasty! Still too full for dessert though - next time!

Pros: Amazing food, Friendly staff, Funky vibe

One of the best places I've ever been!

I've been to a lot of vegan/vegetarian places all over the world but I have to admit that Bodhi in Munich is one of the best places you can go to have a delicious vegan meal.

Bodhi is located at Schwanthalerhöhe near to the Theresienwiese where Oktoberfest is celebrated each year. Due to its location in a quite calm street you can sit outside away from the traffic and enjoy the sunshine. The staff is very friendly and fast and the food: You'll hardly find any better!

I've been there several times now - almost each time I'm in Munich for work and each time it was just great. Friendly service, vegan food and everything sooooo delicious. Not only the seitangoulash with pretzel dumplings (best I ever had!) also the salads and soja schnitzels or the desserts are so delicious.

HIGHLY recommendable, doesn't matter if at lunch-time or in the evening and you won't regret anything ;)
If visiting in the evening I would recommend a reservation.

Pros: Best vegan food in town, Friendly and fast service, Good atmosphere and nice to sit outside
