Asian Food in Porto - Edit
Great place to visit if eating out with non veggie people. Staff is very knowledgeable of vegan and allergens. The menu is also very well labeled. Price is a little pricey for Porto but their food is gorgeous.

Ok so we got there one night for dinner and saw a huge line! We understood that without a reservation you wouldn’t be able to get a table for dinner. So we booked it for the next day. We had to wait for our table for 10 minutesor so… but ok. We sat down and was told we had to leave before 22:00 (we got there by 20:30). The menu has some great options, we weren’t very hungry so we got one starter and one main. It was delicious.

Para quem gosta de comida asiática é uma ótima pedida porque tem várias opções desde entradas a pratos principais. O local é lindo, staff atencioso e os valores ficam na média de 16€ o prato.

Enjoyed the steamed Chinese eggplant. The bao was all right- a bit underwhelming. The dim sum assortment lacked flavour. Only flavour was cilantro:/

Quite a limited vegan menu, but everything we had was tasty. There are a couple of main courses, but it’s also easy to make a meal of the starters and sides

Not trained on the vegan menu! - Edit
We were asked upon arrival if we had any dietary requirements and said one is vegan and one is vegetarian. We were given a vegan menu which we both ordered off, two tofu dishes and a last minute addition of the dim sum...I double checked with the waitress that this was veggie and she said yes....it arrived and I took a bite into PORK dim sum...I asked the waitress if this was the veggie option and she said no this is meat? Told her I had eaten pork despite being a vegetarian and there was no apology she just took the plate away. She then returns and tells us my manager has okayed it for me to get you a vegetarian option? Still no apology... My partners vegan dish arrived with egg in it...waitress avoided us the entire time and we didn't eat the meal with fear there was meat in it all and couldn't because of the egg! A destinct lack of caring for dietary requirements and avoidance of any customer service skills. Don't offer a vegan/veggie menu if you're staff aren't trained well enough. Still had to pay for an expensive meal we didn't eat - manager was useless and a liar, please avoid!!!

Cons: Not all staff trained , Manager is very poor, Fed meat despite telling them we were vegan/vegeta

Dear, heyjennyjenny. As we previously said, we’re extremely sorry to hear about your experience with us. As you can see from all of our reviews’ platforms, this is not how we usually operate and your visit does not reflect the experience we strive daily to provide to our guests. We respect and care about every “passenger” that boards with us at Boa-Bao. Our special vegan menu and vegetarian options are available exactly for cases like yours and we can only apologize sincerely for the waitress’ response and for the manager’s behaviour, that although had the best interests at heart and was trying to resolve the situation on the spot, unfortunately did not proceed in the best way. If you could please email us at ola@boabao.pt, our administrative team would personally like to follow up with you on this situation. Thank you, the Boa-Bao team.

Rachel, first of all, thank you for checking-in and for taking some time to leave us your feedback. We really appreciate it! About your Pad Thai, we're very sorry it came with egg, it shouldn't happen. Maybe next time, if you can ask one of our hosts to exchange your dish. Our guides are always available to help and they're great problem solvers! This was definitely a mistake and we would be more than happy to help at the moment. We hope you have the chance to come back to live an even more positive experience next time. Thank you, the Boa-Bao team.

Tasty food, delicious cocktails - Edit
We went here on our last night in Porto and it was good. They have a seperate vegan menu that makes ordering easy, but it is a small menu. We had 2 starters and 2 main dishes. The starters were tasty, the mains were good but not as flavourful or spicy as we are used to for a Thai curry, or pad thai. The cocktails we had were super and the service was good as well.

Unfortunatly disappointing - Edit
We received a friendly welcome and ordered cocktails and food. The food was boring in taste and mostly filled with carbohydrates. We also received a wrong dish but our waiter made sure to make clear it was our mistake not his. Even after telling him we didn’t mind. 2 minutes later he trows the bill on he table but did not ask for it. That star is because there was alcohol in our cocktails.

A great hot vegan meal - Edit
If you are looking for a hot (temperature) comfort food dish this is a great place. I had the Pad Thai and the spicy lemonade. I would go back. As you walk up to the door there is a stand with menus but there was no indication that we were to wait there. We waited for 10 or so minutes and then walked in. Having a separate vegan menu was fantastic!

Pumokel, we are very sorry your experience at Boa-Bao didn't go according to your (and our) expectations. It's very disappointing when our guests leave Boa-Bao unhappy. We can assure you we try our hardest to deliver the most authentic Asian experience in Portugal and normally, we are very praised for our amazing food. With that said, we believe your experience was an exception and hopefully you can come back to live a more positive journey. Thank you so much. See you soon? The Boa-Bao team.
