Tasty vegan options & fun vibe - Edit
There were less vegan options than I had hoped, but they were good. I had a vegan Caprese sandwich, my partner had vegan chicken parm pasta, and we shared general tso cauliflower.

Disappointing - Edit
We entered and people just kinda looked at us, I don’t expect a hug when I walk in a restaurant but maybe a welcoming smile. They were just staring at us wondering why we came in. After sitting down so we can eat we looked at the menu, had some good quick vegan options, unfortunately no one ever came out to serve us. So we left.

Good for what it was - Edit
Not the best vegan options for meals, but from the appetizers I got I was pretty happy with them (chips and guac & a gigantic soft pretzel). Better place to drink and game than have a nice vegan dinner.

New menu with more options, but it's a bit messy - Edit
I really like the folks over at bitbar but the new menu has some things I would like to see changed. This review would be 4/5 if it was anywhere but happycow bc of the strict veg 5 star requirement.
Read moreThe vegan supreme nachos are back, but they use daiya shreds instead of their old house made cheese sauce. Vegan cheese has come a long way from 10 years ago when daiya was the only option. It does come out on a quarter sheet pan, which is a pretty massive serving and makes the $18 more reasonable, but the ratio of toppings was weird for me, it's extremely heavy on pickled jalapenos and pico, and then using daiya....felt like I was back in my college apartment making my first batch of vegan nachos.
The impossible burger is $17. I know the patty is expensive compared to meat etc, and yes they make their own buns, but $17 for a 4oz patty and a bit of lettuce and tomato? It is only a $1 upcharge from the meat burger, at least.
I used to love the pakora burger, and it went the same road - $15 for a single layer of veggie fritter.
Guac app is good but a small amount of guac for price ($12) and amt of chips.
Also, despite having a coffee drink with coconut cream on their mocktail menu which I super appreciate, I was told there were no non dairy milk options for my hot coffee when I asked.
These two I haven't tried yet:
They added vegan spring rolls, but it comes with a sauce containing fish that you have to request to have switched out. Would be nice to just have it as vegan by default.
There's a power bowl which is allegedly vegan if you don't add the optional meat toppings; it's unlabeled as such.
I will say though, I got to try the vegan cheesecake and it's pretty great.
Overall, very expensive menu (not just the vegan options), and I just am not really impressed with what I've had recently. I am very happy, however, that they have put back a lot of the options from before their limited October menu, and there's some new things on there I need to try. Will update if anything changes next time I'm in.
Pros: Good amount of options , Great people, Awesome NY cheesecake
Cons: Not impressed with options , Very expensive

Significantly reduced vegan options - Edit
Nothing left. Their vegan menu as of spring/summer 2022 was loaded with lots of options, nearly every entree or app had a vegan version. I’m talking vegan nachos, an Indian wrap, lots of unique things,m Now, you can literally just get a vegan burger…..what happened?!

Fewer options now - Edit
Really fun barcade, but basically only offered a vegan burger, tots, and a pickled veggie appetizer as vegan (didn't get the tots, may want to ask about shared fryer if that's your style). The burger was great and after tasting the pickles that came with the burger, I wish I had gotten that appetizer (realllly good pickles). Had a coffee drink that came with lavender and coconut cream, but no other plant milks for coffee.

Just a heads up, every restaurant in town changes their menu during October. They will probably have more options again in November

Great food! Good, quick service! - Edit
We had the Yoga Flame, the vegan supreme nachos, and the vegan cheesecake! All incredible! There were a handful of vegan or can-be vegan options and several vegetarian options. I absolutely plan on returning next time I'm in Salem! The vegan cheesecake wasn't Daiya and it was *amazing*

Was very surprised. - Edit
I was worried when I read reviews saying they run out of vegan options a lot. So I called and the lady reassured me they have a new chef and things are going well. She was right. The food was delicious! Just very limited options. But what they had was good. They even made my daughter a pizza with vegan cheese. Though I realize now I should have asked if they crust and sauce was vegan too. 🤔 Service needs a little improvement but was not terrible. Seems like the manager was there checking on things so good sign.

Fun place! - Edit
I love having a place to go downtown with friends that has legitimate vegan options and arcade games! I love the loaded fries so much that I recreate them at home. The Tetris tots are to die for!!

Decent - Edit
The array of options is decent. Appetizers include chili, chips and guacamole or extreme nachos (size of a main meal). The only vegan main is a beyond burger. I found it strange that the vegan nachos were the second most expensive item on the menu after steak Mac and cheese. The service was also very slow.

Limited but awesome vegan options - Edit
Update Nov. 2021: they have moved to a larger new location around the corner with new hours and even more vegan options than before! Still A
Read moreAs I am writing this, Bit Bar has a veggie pakora sandwich called the "YOGA FLAME", vegan three bean chili, and Vegan Supreme Nachos (July 2019). Previously, they had a really solid house-made vegan burger which I miss but the pakora sandwich (although different) is definitely better IMHO. The vegan nachos are HUGE and definitely should be shared with at least one other person, especially if you have no self control.
Only downside is that they must only prep a limited number of the vegan sandwiches per day because there have been multiple occasions where I've gone in to order the Yoga Flame (and the vegan burger before that) and they're sold out of them. Be sure to call ahead if you plan on eating a meal there.

Such a cool place! - Edit
This place is pretty awesome if you like arcade games and the food compliments the atmosphere well. My boyfriend and I went in for late night snacks and drinks. They have a decent amount of vegan options! The vegan nachos were made perfectly. Lots of cheese and toppings, kind of messy but yummy! The Tetris tots were not only nostalgic but good too! I also tried the vegetable fritter sandwich but I wasn’t a total fan of it. It just wasn’t what I expected it to be. But the fritter had good flavor. I would definitely go back.

Sweet bar with some vegan options - Edit
We love bit bar. It’s a decent, laid-back bar with video game tables and a couple systems (they had a nintendo system when we went). Their drink and draught menu are pretty good with lots of local options. They also offer a great groupon for cheap game tokens if you’re looking to play some games. They do have a few vegan options which are actually pretty decent. We tried the veggie burger and were really pleasantly surprised. Prices are on the higher end of fair and portion size was fair. Our only complaint is the super pungent smell of burning oil in the bar. Whenever we leave we have to change our clothes it’s so strong!

Love Bit Bar! Bit Bar is an arcade bar with an extensive collection of classic games. The food is great as well. I highly recommend the vegan nachos and Tetris tots. Yes, tater tots shaped like Tetris pieces. Amazing!
