Best vegan restaurant ever ⭐️ - Edit
I cannot recommend the Root and Bloom enough!! Every time we’re in town we eat here as much as possible, but after trying their new menu we might have to make a trip back just to eat here! I had the Blanche Bbq wings with ranch and the Edna in the Buff (mac and cheese) twice and it was amazing both times. Highly recommend. Also try the Charlie Brown milkshake it tastes like pumpkin pie. This is seriously my favorite vegan restaurant ever 🌱

We visited from out of town and ended up eating here twice in two days because it was so good. The restaurant is adorable, the staff is so kind, and the food is unmatched. It gets really busy on the weekends but brunch is highly recommended.

They offer vegan mac and cheese two ways - BBQ and Buffalo. My husband got BBQ and I got Buffalo, and both were super tasty! I highly recommend.

Root and Bloom - Edit
Root and Bloom has been a gift to us here in Buffalo. Providing us with crazy different dishes. It is a beautiful brunch spot, cute outdoor patio. Almost every time my food has been amazing. It is a bit expensive so it is more of a date night place, or special outing.

Worth the wait! So good they were packed with a wait. We came with several elderly guests and they were pleasantly surprised at how great it was trying a new place and new foods. Must try the Blanche vegan hot and barbecue wings. Ricardo tacos were excellent! Paulette board perfect to share as appetizers

100% Vegan Menu - Edit
Extensive options starting with appetizers, on to entrees, and through desserts. Our selections included soft tacos filled with crispy roasted potatoes, and nachos topped with a quinoa-based ground sausage, crema, and quacamole. Dessert included an oat raisin scone and a gluten free, pop tart-like berry filled pastry.

Cozy vegan spot with comfort food anyone can enjoy! - Edit
Only been here once on a Wednesday evening and can not wait to go back. There isn’t a ton of space to sit and it looks to be a popular spot...so calling ahead would probably be a good idea. Also, keep in mind the kitchen closes 30 minutes before their posted closing time.
Read moreLOVE the welcoming cafe atmosphere in here; vibe of the decor is somewhere between a warm modern cottage’s wine cellar bar and a bright homey tea room frequented by grandmothers who make their own THC edibles.
When I go to a new spot & the menu lists an item as a customer favorite, I usually feel like I need to start there. In this case, it was their “Edna” Mac & Cheese w/ smokey greens and fried crispy BBQ tofu. Holy smokes, this was excellent. The variety of textures, aromas, and flavors was on point and authentic enough to earn respect from some meat eating BBQ or Mac & Cheese lovers. Good portion size.
Loved to see a version of Buffalo Wings on the menu...it looked f’n delicious as it came out of the kitchen for someone else.
LOVE a 100% vegan menu that’s approachable to omnivores (the descriptions of the items don’t beat you to death with the fact that they are plant-based). Will be returning often.
Update: Weekend brunch. 2 adults & 2 kids...first thru the door. The cozy place filled up quickly.
I ordered the ‘Fernando’, a Tex-Mex huevos rancheros plate. Lots of delicious flavors. Their “egg” was amongst the better versions I’ve had. The tostada at the bottom was a bit clunky and had a bit of a messy garbage-plate vibe to it.
My wife had the Reuben Hash. She gave me a few bites, but didn’t want to split 50/50 with me because it was f’n awesome. The beet-brining and seasoning gave the seitan the look, taste, texture, and flavor of thick cut pastrami. Sadly, this one was taken off the new summer menu (along with Fernando)
Ordered the kids pancakes & fruit. The topping on the pancakes was very good (coconut based maybe?)...not cold, melted like a scoop of pancake butter, tasted like ice cream.
If I have anything bad to say: We felt a bit cramped in the packed room and also a bit rushed out the door by the end of our meal (check was dropped off quickly...my not-quite empty plate was taken away while I was still chewing a bite from it, fork in hand).
Meal was again fantastic and can’t wait to hopefully eat on that gorgeous patio soon!
Pros: Excellent tasting food, Clean, bright & cozy atmosphere, Fun vegan menu that non-veg eaters can enjoy.
Cons: Small space = fewer tables

Outstanding. A must-try. - Edit
The perfect intro for a non vegan, and a an absolute joy for an established vegan. Everything was incredible and made us say "wow!" It was a great thrill to be able to choose from an all-vegan menu for once. Cant wait to go back, especially when its warm and the patio is open.

broken hearted 💔 - Edit
It breaks my heart to give this adorable restaurant a low star rating, but I did go back several times (5 to be exact) to give them chances to redeem themselves, both during the summer months and now that they moved inside, but I still concluded with the same score. So, I would like to share with you my reason... here it goes: when you walk in, you are usually greeted with a smile, the decor is done just right, very comfy, cozy, chill Cali-like vibes. I appreciate that everything on the menu is vegan-friendly. Wait time for food to come out is a little longer than most restaurants, but that is mentioned ahead of time and is not an issue. Again, the place is just so cute, there is much to look at and admire while the food is being prepared. Once the food comes out, the presentation has always been very nice (great for those insta pics ) and here is where the score takes a dive - as soon as we dig in... nearly every time we have dined at Root & Bloom, the food has barely been warm when served. After the last time it happening (during a brunch service) and being served lukewarm coffee, I said to myself as I paid the bill, "I probably will not be returning here again anytime soon.... I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this?"
Read moreA few other "incidences" we've had at Root & Bloom are now coming to mind as I write this, but I do not want to go on a rant here.... overall I would not recommend this place to friend. I hope they can fix the kitchen issues soon.
Pros: warm Cali-vibes & friendly faces, food is arranged nicely for pictures, 100% vegan menu
Cons: food is either cold or burnt black & still served

Great food but very crowded - Edit
We visited Root & Bloom in the summertime and ate outside where there's plenty of room.
Read moreThis time upon our return in the winter we had about a 15 minute wait for Sunday brunch. The wait and wait time were handled accurately and efficiently by text system.
There were about as many tiny tables as could possibly fit in a small interior. People were bumping into each other while trying to navigate. Sort of fun but sort of obnoxious. I don't think I'll come back except summer but the food is great - nice staff - just need more space.
Pros: Really good food!
Cons: Too crowded

Am I the only one who wasn't a fan? - Edit
I really wanted to like Root & Bloom. It was the only all vegan place we went to. The items on the menu looked super healthy (usually a plus for me, since we like to eat healthier vegan fare), and it was such a cute space (albeit super cramped, and my 6'5" husband was not thrilled about the tiny chairs and tables). The staff was nice--we had trouble finding parking and they held our reservation. But the food... Ok, we loved the charcuterie plate but that was where the enjoyment stopped. The water was served in glasses so small they could have passed for shotglasses. And my husband's "soup" was brought out cold. A huge uncooked vegetable sat in the middle of his bowl (the ends weren't even trimmed). My salad was barely edible--and we left hungry and disappointed. I should also note that they only accept cash tips, which caught me off guard so I ended up leaving a 40% tip.

All vegan menu, pricey... atmosphere was a little ‘stuffy’ - Edit
Food was good. Prices were high, probably gonna pay $15 per head without an app or drink. The space is very, very small. On a Friday night, you need a reservation to sit at a table, so we sat at the bar. I’m not sure I would’ve wanted to sit at these tables though. Adult couples were forced into teeny spaces at teeny tables, haha I wouldn’t have been so excited about it. No music and you can just about hear everyone’s conversation because of the tight quarters.

Great Vibes! - Edit
I finally had a chance to experience what all the rave is at this cute Cafe. I loved the ambiance of the outdoor patio and all the employees I had interactions with were friendly. I had the "Edna" which was mac & cashew cheese sauce with greens and crispy fried BBQ tofu.... Yes it was actually crispy! The citrus water with chia seeds accompanied the meal perfectly. Everything was delicious and I will definitely be back.* A quick tip, I didn't know we had to get our own cups and utensils from a little stand on the patio, after looking around a little bit wondering where everyone got their cups from, I did find them. Not a big deal at all, I just wished they had told me😄still 5 stars all around.
