Lentil stew

Vegan lentil stew available. Surprisingly good. There are some vegetarian sweets, but no vegan.

Pros: There is one vegan option :(

Cons: Only one vegan option :)

Surprisingly nice

Mostly in Germany and Austria there are just few veggie options at such kind of locations. Here you find a nice variety of tasty snacks.

Pros: Tasty and mostly home made

Cons: hardly vegan options

Perfect hikers spot with vegan options

This restaurant is perfectly located in the national park, you could take the tram and start your hike close by as we did or plan a passage around lunchtime. The viewpoint is amazing and the restaurant offers a vegan dish, which is a filling and delicious lentil soup with some bread, and you can opt for an additional salad. You have to order your food at the counter but even on a busy weekend day, we only had to wait about 20 minutes. We could even find a spot outside on the terrace. Keep in mind that you have to bring back your dishes at the counter, so for an all including service you shouldn’t stop here but we were very glad to find this spot along our hike!

Plant based milk and a vegan dish

I didn't expect to find anything vegan in a tourist location in the woods when we finished our hike, so I was delighted that there is something offered.
The place itself is of course perfect (just google "Kuhstall Himmelsleiter") and is worth a visit.

There is one vegan dish on the menu, lentil soup, and you can also find a glass of organic soy milk on the menu. It is possible to have a coffee or hot chocolate with it.
The prices are a bit higher as expected for a tourist location at a not so easily accessible place. But I really appreciate that they offer something.

Pros: friendly staff, something vegan available, great location

Cons: a bit pricy, more vegan options could be offered

vegan food at an amazing location

We were doing quite a long walk in the national park and were pleased to find the word vegan on a menu of Berggasthaus Kuhstall. We ordered the lentil soup which was good. The price was okay (6 EUR for a medium sized serve) and there was not much other vegan choice.

If this restaurant was in a city, I would not overly recommend it, but the place it is situated in really makes it worth to go here: The viewpoint right next to the restaurant (you should go up the Himmelsleiter / stairway to heaven) it one of the nice ones in the park and the walks here are just beautiful.

If you are planning a walk in the national park, this can be a nice stopover!
