Bar Verde has amazing food and the best passion fruit cheese cake we have ever had - Edit
My spouse and I have been vegan since 1991 and 1990 respectively. We love going out and travelling for vegan food. We had a fantastic experience in this vegan restaurant. I am a dessert person and often start a meal with dessert. I was so excited by the passion fruit cheesecake. It is truly the best cheesecake, bar none, that I have ever had. I knew it would be wonderful because all the food was innovative and delicious, but was so pleased by this perfect dessert. Each of us had a different meal and both were fantastic. We began with BROOD DRIPS and the bread was warm and tasty and the dips terrific, I especially liked the garlic dip. My husband had the WITLOF TARTE TARTIN and he found it imaginative and scrumptious. I had the FLAMMKUCHEN which was delectable. The owner and staff were warm and welcoming. Bar Verde definitely receives the highest recommendation.

The other dishes had okay flavours but were not that special. I feel like the flavour and textures could still be improved. Or maybe we were just having to high expectations after reading the previous review raving about the chicory Tarte tatin and cauliflower wings.
The owner/staff was very friendly and food came quickly.

We visited Bar Verde in Maastricht this Valentine’s Day. Fully vegan restaurants are hard to come by in the area, so discovering this place was already a treat. After checking the menu online, our mouths were watering; we couldn’t wait to try everything!

We were seated by a window. While it was a bit chilly inside, the incredible food absolutely made up for it. We began with a cup of herbal tea, a latte and three appetizers to share: the Cauliflower Wings, Köfte, and Bao Buns. All were delicious, but the Cauliflower Wings stole the show for us, followed by the Bao Buns and then the Köfte. By the way, the herbal tea was amazing!
Since one of us was already quite full from the appetizers, we decided to order one main dish and an additional appetizer. We chose the Witlof Tarte Tatin as the main and the Gyoza as the extra appetizer. The Gyoza was tasty but not extraordinary, whereas the Witlof Tarte Tatin was absolutely divine, even if you aren’t normally a fan of witlof. That dish alone is worth a return visit.
We had an amazing dinner and immediately recommended Bar Verde to friends and family. We’re looking forward to coming back, especially with people who are skeptical about vegan food. We absolutely believe that Bar Verde manages to convince even non-vegans with their incredible flavors.

One of the best vegan meals we've had - Edit
What a lovely meal and experience we had here. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful, explaining how the food was made and ensuring everything was okay for us. We started with the cauliflower wings and arrancini and had the jackfruit main, all delicious and full of flavour. We'd thoroughly recommend this restaurant and would advise to book early as the slot we wanted wasn't available.

Plant-tastic Dinner Spot - Edit
So great when everything on the menu is vegan and you can just order whatever you feel like. The staff was exceptionally friendly and the atmosphere really cozy for a nice dinner. I enjoyed the lasagna a lot, but the starters blew me away even more. The tomato soup was packed with flavour, and the cauliflower wings were perfectly crispy with a chili mayo that was tasty and nicely spicy. Definitely recommend! I also really appreciate that, beyond the standard soft drinks, they offer a nice selection of non-alcoholic beverages.

I almost didn't go here as it was a bit out of the way, but I am so glad I didn't miss it! It's in the middle of a residential area, and I really questioned if I was going the right way until the small, cosy restaurant appeared.
Read moreThe kitchen usually closes at 20:30 but they hadn't been busy so we're closing the kitchen early. I arrived at 20:15 without a reservation and am so grateful the super kind staff and chef made an exception and fed me.
I had the arancini (starter) and quiche (main) based off the server's recommendation and both were A . The arancini may have been the tastiest thing I've ever eaten - they were super crispy outside, soft and flavourful inside, served on a small salad with dollops of two different sauces. The red pepper sauce was actually magic!!
The quiche was similarly delicious, with a flaky crust and smokey bacon pieces throughout. The side salad had roasted potatoes and pickled cucumbers along side lettuce and tomatoes, which I questioned only until I took a bite. The pickles were super fresh and crispy, and a bit sweet, and the potatoes worked perfectly with (more of!) the red pepper cream/sauce dollops. I was in heaven!
I was too full to eat dessert there but couldn't pass up a vegan tiramisu to go. They promised it is much prettier eaten in the restaurant, served in a glass, so I closed my eyes and imagined that while I dug in a couple hours later in total heaven. It was creamy and so flavourful!
I don't usually leave reviews here, so I really hope my long list of praise for Bar Verde will encourage you to try it out when in Maastricht!!

Is it the price-portion ratio the issue? From my own experience, a 3 course meal + drink is about 50 euro. I don't think that is too much for the quality & location.

Really good, highly recommend, the menu seems to change every so often and they offer a great variety of dishes/cuisines. It's a bit expensive, like everywhere in Maastricht, but thr flavours are great. Not many places you can find a vegan milkshake, and it's really tasty 😊🥤🌿
