Gorgeous Cakes - Edit
What a great find! We visited the Lakes and didn’t expect to find a fully vegan bakery sadly it was on our way home so we popped in for a take-away cake so we didn’t miss out. The staff were so friendly. It was a cute little shop and I felt right at home there.

Speciality coffee and plant-based pastries and cakes - Edit
Very much open and in business. This is a speciality coffee roaster with a good selection of coffee with a medium roast profile as well as exclusively vegan pastries and cakes. We weren't super excited about the almond croissant, which was quite heavy, and the cinnamon bun was cold and heavy too. Maybe would benefit from being reheated. The advice for selecting coffee was helpful, so it's worth going for the coffee.

Cons: Pastries were cold and heavy and could be reheated

Wow cake options! - Edit
Great vegan cake options. The caramel chocolate slice I had was insane and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is a little odd as it's more of a shop than a cafe and service was adequate but nothing to write home about. Would recommend.

New coffee shop with ethics at its core - Edit
Now within Podda and Wren coffee shop. Called in over Christmas when there were takeaway only. Prominantly located and great cakes. Should be refurbished and opened for sitting in now.
Read moreWent back and family sat for tea and cake. Very friendly owners.
Got more takeawy cake too. And pies!
Nov 2023 - found a mobile coffee van at Kendal Mountain Festival. Very good coffee and cake!
Dec 2023 - still great with more decoration and seats. A venue with ethics at its core: not a drop of dairy on site and responsible sourcing of coffee, tea and chocolate.

Best coffee and cake around - Edit
Podda and Wren are fairly new to Kendal, but well established arou d Windermere as Fellside Coffee and Bannila Bakery. Atmosphere inside is fantastic, with a great range of cakes and coffee. Jonathan makes the best flat whites ever and Lauras cakes could win competitions!

Brilliant little place - Edit
Dropped in and immediately loved the place. The girls are very friendly and the cakes are delicious. I couldn’t help but grab three of the cinnamon rolls, one Bakewell cake and a jammy dodger cake to bring home. All taste excellent. The quality of the coffee is also very high. Couldn’t recommend more.

Banilla Bakery offers a great selection of vegan cakes, cookies, bread, scones, savouries and fantastic coffee and tea.
Read moreThe choice of cakes is huge so it's difficult to choose but are all homemade by owner Laura. We've had lime drizzle cake, biscoff cookies, cinnamon rolls, peanut butter cookies, carrot & pecan muffin, Mac n cheese, homemade focaccia sandwich with roast vegetables, pesto & cheese. All absolutely delicious.
A visit to the Lakes wouldn't be the same without a visit to Banilla Bakery. Highly recommended.

Great brownies and blondies! - Edit
Lovely brownies and blondies that we had whilst visiting Kendal. The friendly owner can deliver locally for free or can be picked up. Also great that they did not contain nuts or coconut oil to which my son is intolerant (but not severely allergic). Most of all tasted great and all vegan for a wonderful treat!
