I loved that Baby Salsa had a lot of vegan options. I was put off by the auto tip charge for tables of 5 … for glorified fast food.

We went here for lunch and were very excited about a separate vegan menu that was loaded with options, it was hard to choose. I got the chorizo enchiladas and my husband got a santa fe burrito. We were not disappointed. Both were delicious and very filling. We wished we saved room for the vegan churros. They also served us complimentary chips & salsa which was a nice touch. The service was on point. Next time we will probably get a few tacos so we will have some room for dessert. They also have a happy hour so we may check that out as well.

I had vegan chorizo enchilada with ranchera red salsa. It was honestly the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. The flavours and spices are heavenly. I wish happy cow allowed me to give 5 stars because it doesn't deserve anything less.

This place has by far the best, most authentic tasting Mexican vegan food. Unlike many other restaurants’ vegan options, these guys don’t just remove the non-vegan part of their dishes. They actually have vegan replacements made by companies like Beyond and Gardein. I couldn’t understand why this place did not have 5 Star rating (then I saw that 5 star is reserved for restaurants that are exclusively vegan/vegetarian).

I love that they have a separate vegan menu at this place. It makes it much easier to just order freely rather than picking through a menu and not being able to choose majority of it. Atmosphere was nothing special but our server was nice and the fajitas were great and a big portion. I didn’t have room for dessert and had leftovers for the next day! A good option in Nanaimo. Would come again.

Everything I’ve tried from baby salsa (which has been a lot over the years) has always been great. They’ve got an awesome selection of vegan quesadillas, burritos, tacos, and a couple vegan deserts! I’ve also always been super impressed with the customer service, and they do occasionally add different vegan menu items from time to time to change things up. The only complaint I have is that it is super unfortunate that Baby Salsa Express has closed, it was my favourite drive thru in Nanaimo!

Authentic Mexican Cuisine - Edit
Baby Salsa is a restaurant located in a strip mall with limited indoor seating plus an outdoor patio. The large menu includes two pages of vegan options, including many that feature Beyond brand meat alternatives and their in-house chorizo. Because I spent 15 years living in Arizona, I am fussy about the quality and authenticity of Mexican cuisine and this place exceeded my expectations. The flavors are exceptional. I tried the Sante Fe vegan burrito “drowned” in red sauce while my wife tried the vegan chorizo enchiladas. Both were great. My burrito was quite spicy, which was great, but those diners used to Taco Bell might be overwhelmed. The restaurant has a wide selection of beverages for sale including Mexican beer selections, a couple local draft beers, White and red wine, and various cocktails including a margarita with a Corona beer wedged into it.

I love Baby Salsa! 🌮🎉There’s a large vegan menu with tons of tasty options, a lot of which are made in house such as the vegan chorizo! I’ve only ever had take out as covid protocols but the quality is just as delicious and the staff are friendly. Big portions and yummy food. The fact that it’s locally owned is also a huge bonus!

Fantastic Vegan Mexican - Edit
Baba Salsa restaurant is an omni establishment that values it's vegan customers enough to make a separate vegan menu for us. They have 2 locations, an express and a full service restaurant, which this review is for. They serve Beyond Meat and Daiya cutting house shreds, and are fully licensed. The food is fresh and delicious, and they feature several different house made salsas. The best vegan Mexican in B.C. without a doubt.
