VEGAN Options : Penne Pasta - Edit
VEGAN Options!! I am from NC but moved to FL. When I come back to visit NC it is almost impossible to get a decent vegan meal when visiting my family. Giuliano ensured me that I would enjoy my VEGAN experience and I DID!! He presented me with 2-3 options on the menu and 5-6 options the chef could create from other options. I felt comfortable knowing there was no cross-contamination with any meat/milk products. The bread, my salad with balsamic dressing, endless hot tea, and a lemon dessert created just for vegans!!! Giuliano...you are the best and I look forward to returning back for great service, food and conversation!!!

Make sure you explain what vegan is… - Edit
I’ve had a few experiences at Antonella’s, with the first time being the best. Our server was well aware of what vegan was and gave awesome recommendations. Our second visit, however, left me frustrated. Each time I asked the server whether something was vegan (the bread and certain salad dressings), she would say “yes it’s gluten free.” I could care less about something being gluten free. I had to explain to her how the two things aren’t the same yet she was still confused. I just decided to skip those parts of my meal.

Cute downtown spot - Edit
There were two vegan entrees on the menu when I visited: a spaghetti with marinara and a penne Toscana (rather like a puttanesca). I ordered the latter, and it was quite good, very garlicky and a bit spicy. I was impressed that there was a vegan soup option, which I ordered (an excellent three-bean soup). The bread was also vegan and fantastic, served with dipping oil. It was a little odd inside. Lots of windows, so it didn't really feel cozy, and mock Italian statuary and faux peeling walls that could seem cute or over the top, depending on your mood. I was hungry, so I went with it. The patio looked nice, though it was a bit chilly for me that night, so I dined indoors. Service was fine.

Excellent Italian - Edit
They offered three vegan entrees (plus regular veg dishes), the portobello ravioli was fantastic. Kids portion of spaghetti was huge. Adorable outdoor space in the middle of what felt like city center.
