New menu, now much more vegan friendly

When I visited Amarante for the first time in autumn 2024 I was a bit disappointed like some other reviewers here. While the restaurant was 100% vegetarian, there was hardly any choice for vegans.

With their new 2025 menu this has changed considerably: Now about 50% of their menu is vegan. I was there on a sunday and had the pancakes from the brunch menu, they were fantastic and beautifully presented. There is a different menu during the week (it's also seasonal, so check their website)

I also liked that the little extra they gave me with my coffee was a home-made caramelized almond. Delicious and vegan - normally in Geneva you have to remember to order a coffee without the free treat, as other places tend to give non-vegan ones.

Clearly, there are easy things that could still be improved (offer the vegan fondue from Crémerie Végane, offer a vegan croissant), the new menu is a fantastic step in the right direction, and I personally find Amarante one of the best lunch spots in Geneva, both for the location in the beautiful botanic gardens and for the beautifully presented and tasty food for very reasonable prices.

Pros: Options véganes gourmandes , Joli cadre , Service aimable

Service is slow and unprofessional.
Very few vegan options (one dish and one dessert as I went there)
Quite tasty but expensive and small quantities

New veggie place in town

Great location. It is always nice to have a new veggie place to go to. The food was good, portions a bit small, staff quite slow, and not enough vegan options (only one for the brunch and no cakes at all).

I hope the menu will improve soon because it is definitely a nice spot in Geneva, and I look forward to coming back.

Pros: Food was tasty, Location is ideal

Cons: Not enough vegan options, More vegan desserts needed
