Healthy and always accomodating

Some in my family have extreme dietary restrictions, but they are always able to find something here. The food never fails to be comforting and tasty, and it's nice to know that it's healthy as well. Their deserts (even the raw ones) blew me away. Their heavenly curry is truly heavenly.

Amazing desserts, good food

Really great menu. Fully vegan restaurant with AMAZING DESSERT SELECTION.
The soy ice cream is a little icy (as in more like a snocone than a creamy thing), but the flavor is delicious (I got mint chocolate chip). They have a STELLAR vegan tiramisu. I drool.
The honey walnut shrimp is so delicious. Brown rice was a little dry, and the broccoli got cold fast outdoors, but the candied walnuts and that cream sauce make up for everything.
Bao was amazing too. Omni friend said it tasted like beef!
They are mostly an Asian-inspired menu but even have some other options like well-loved Mac n cheese and tacos.
Update: the Mac n cheese is beyond five stars. The mushroom sandwich three (the mushroom was real tough in spots). The crab Rangoon is four stars, and the key lime pie is 4.5

Spicy stew

Happily recommend the “Run away potato” stew. It’s spicy so you better like it hot.

The best desserts around!

While my wife and I love their food, we are truly obsessed with their desserts: their recent baked Tiramisu is outstanding, as are their Strawberry Shortcake and Carrot Cake.

Pros: Food, Desserts, Price

Cons: Small Interior/Limited Seating, No Brunch

Tasty Vegan Pan-Asian Restaurant

This is a very good menu with a large selection. Well made food in a casual setting. Large seating area. Waitstaff mediocre though.

Pros: Wide variety of dishes from different countries, You can order dishes made without fake meat, Tasty

Cons: A bit expensive, Waitress brought apps & mains a few mins apart, Waitress wanted us to order dessert way too soon

Excellent Vegan Food!

I have eaten the food at Alice and Friends Vegan Kitchen twice. Once in April 2019 in the restaurant and via GrubHub in October 2019. Both times, the food was excellent. One of my friends have eaten here more times than I, and she agrees that everything she has eaten here has been wonderful, and so different from the typical vegan fare.

I can personally recommend the following items:

-Crab Rangoon - Nut free. A combination of soy cream cheese, vegan crab meat, scallions, onions filled in wheat wrapper. 4 pieces. $6.25 I know this is a bit pricey, but, so worth it! They serve it with what tasted like a sweet/spicy chili sauce on the side.

-Stir Fry Veggies - Soy free, gluten free and sugar-free. Simple stir fry veggies with light seasoning and garlic - cabbage, bean sprouts, carrots, and broccoli. $6.75 Tasty, and a generous portion.

-Mushrooms Wonderland - Nut-free, gluten-free, soy-free, sugar-free, Can be Garlic & Onion-free. Broccoli and kale sauteed with shiitake mushroom, king oyster mushroom, bunapi mushroom, onion, garlic and served with quinoa. $14.25 add spicy $0.75 If you mushroom lover, this is the dish for you! I cannot order another entree, as long as they keep this on the menu.

-Chocolate Cake - Nut-free. $6.50 Wonderfully moist, chocolate-y and addicting!

-Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse Bar - Gluten-free. $7.50 This is heaven, heaven heaven! Just the right combination of peanut butter and chocolate, and with the different wonderful textures, it can't be beat.

Pros: Excellent Food, Great staff, Wonderful portion size

Cons: I can't think of any...

Fresh and balanced tastes

A wilde variety of dishes on the menu, the ones we tried were delicious. (dumplings, fried tofu, wonton soep, Tom ka soup).
We were served quickly and friendly.
The ambiance was somewhat austere. Not a fine dining ambiance to ride a few extra miles for.

Pros: Reasonable prices, Very fresh and balanced tastes

Cons: look and feel of a simple neighborhood restaurant

The Most Mindful Health Conscious Vegan Option in Chicago

Alice and Friends has been one of our vegan family favorites for years, always good, never disappoints, holds up against the best across the U.S and beyond. Great place to bring open minded non vegans or vegetarians. Not only is the food creative and delicious but the place offers healthier options which are harder to find in other Chicago vegan restaurants. Highly recommend.

Sooo good!

Great place for a nice and quiet dinner. We got the rainbow roll, korean bbq and won ton soup! All super tasty but the PVT was very realistic, taste and texture.

Pros: Fresh food, Authentic , Great Service

Cons: “Meat” too realistic

Love it!

This restaurant is near my house and when my fam gets takeout or delivery that isn’t vegan friendly I always call in an order for pick up at Alice and friends. I have tried so many things on the menu they’re all so flavorful and I especially love the ramen and gyoza.

My husband and I are here all the time for fresh, healthy Korean-inspired vegan food. I love that the owner is an ethical vegan, so she really cares about the cause as well as the food.

Can't wait to go back

Went here for a late dinner and the place was full. Food took a little long because they were very busy but it was worth the wait. We enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings, super-spicy Run Away Potato, Dol Sot Bi Bim Bop, along with Mango Lassi and Chocolate Mousse Pie. It was all so, so delicious. The Run Away Potato was at the upper limit to how spicy I like my food so next time I might order it as a side dish and not my main entree. We will definitely bring our own containers for leftovers too (the portions are large). I love how this restaurant promotes reusable containers. It should be the norm everywhere!

Pros: Amazing assortment of deliciousness, Low key, relaxed dining area, Great service & hospitality

Cons: Long wait, Tomka soup was sold out, Wish we lived closer

The best vegan restaurant

Some of my fave dishes are Malaysian Laksa, Run away Potato, Love letter to Earth Salad, Burmese’s Noodle Salad, Mushrooms Quinoa and Matcha Cake (to name a few). I’ve been to all vegan/veg restaurants in Chicago, Alice & Friends is the overall winner 🏆 Dishes are delicious & authentic, not too oily/salty. I’m Asian so I’m familiar with all the flavors. It’s not easy to cook them but Alice & Friends nailed it and was able to recreate them as vegan as well (talking about double standards)!!! My favorite weekend is to go workout in the morning, take the red line from the city to Alice, have lunch there and after take a walk (Anderson Ville’ coffee shops or grocery to Whole Foods nearby). If you’re planning to order to go, you can Bring Your Own Containers yo! Thank you for delicious nutritious foods and friendly service Alice & Friends!!!!

Pros: Healthy delicious dishes , Great service, Casual & unpretentious, great values

Cons: No cons! It’s perfect!
