While they advertise veg food on a huge sign, nothing on the two menus is actually marked vegan. Only limited vegetarian choice with some dishes vegan by default, some probably possible made vegan upon request.

Ali Baba’s menu is Thai and Indian. We had the onion bahji and masala papadum appetisers, then the Dhal tadka and some morning glory form the Thai menu. The serving sizes were so much bigger that we’d had at another Indian place a few days before so we ended up accidentally over ordering and took the rest home in a doggy bag. Everything was delicious, but the masala papaddums were the standout- fresh and crunchy. Prices were around the same as most places near the beach at Ao Nang. The staff were a little too attentive- each one in turn came up to ask how we were enjoying the meal without realising that we’d been asked moments before. The wooden games on each table - jenga, tic tac toe etc -were a nice touch.

We came for drinks and ended up getting a selection of Indian vegan dishes (they have Thai as well). Staff knew exactly what we could have. Fair prices for a restaurant and really flavoursome. We ended up coming back a second night and getting starters and a selection of mains.

Read moreDas Essen ist für thailändische Verhältnisse sehr teuer und vom Geschmack her ok. Für fried Cashewnuts habe ich 180THB bezahlt - die selbe Portion bekomme ich woanders mit (für mein Empfinden) besseren Geschmack für wesentlich weniger (~80-100 THB).

Cons: Sehr teuer, geschmacklich nur ok

Waiter informed us that all of their curries and stir fries can be made vegan. Very friendly owner, chef and waitress. Chef double checked our dietary requirements and the food was excellent. We each had a Thai red curry, pad see ew and a papaya salad and everyone enjoyed. Cocktails were a good price.
