Read moreI visited Alaturco Gyro Mediterranean Restaurant today and was so impressed with their vegetarian options! The falafel was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft, herby, and flavorful inside. The hummus was creamy and rich, clearly made fresh, and the tabbouleh had that bright lemony kick I love.
The staff were warm and welcoming, and they happily accommodated my vegetarian preferences. I also tried their grilled veggie pita wrap loaded with zucchini, eggplant, and peppers and it was absolutely delicious. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything tastes homemade.
It’s such a relief to find a Mediterranean spot in the area that takes vegetarian dishes seriously and doesn’t just offer “salad as the only option.” Definitely recommend this place for vegetarians, vegans, and anyone who loves fresh, flavorful food!

As a long-time vegetarian (and recently mostly vegan), finding flavorful, satisfying Mediterranean food in Upstate New York has been a challenge until I discovered Alaturco Gyro Mediterranean Restaurant in Ballston Spa.
Read moreTheir falafel is truly next levelcrispy on the outside, soft and herby on the inside. It’s clear that it’s made fresh, not from a mix. The hummus is smooth and creamy, with just the right amount of garlic and tahini, and the stuffed grape leaves (dolmas) are delicately rolled and bursting with lemony goodness.
What impressed me most is the attention to detail: the warm pita bread, the bright, fresh salads with real sumac, and even the tahini saucerich, nutty, and clearly made in-house. They also offer several delicious vegan-friendly rice platters and salads that don’t feel like an afterthought. You can tell they care about plant-based eaters just as much as meat lovers.
This place is a gem for anyone who wants authentic Mediterranean flavor without compromising their vegan or vegetarian lifestyle. Highly recommended!

I got the falafel sandwich which is clearly marked as vegan on the menu. It comes with fries or stuffed grape leaves. I had to try the grape leaves and they were new to me and totally delicious. The falafel was fresh and nicely fried and had lots of tahini sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion wrapped in a pita. The people working there were very friendly to everyone who came in. Highly recommend for a quick lunch if you’re in town. I think it was $9 for a sandwich and side and I was stuffed afterwards.
