Several vegan options - Edit
This restaurant is huge, both inside and on their terrace. They have several vegan menu options, which you have to specify when ordering.
Read moreWe tried the Green chef burger which can be completely veganized when requested (with vegan cheddar). It was large and tasty, but quite salty. The fries were good and they came with vegan mayo. We also had a vegan appetizer: bread sticks with tomato tapenade.

Genoeg keuze! - Edit
De kaart geeft een goed overzicht van de vega opties en welke daarvan ook vegan kunnen. Zo'n heldere kaart kom je niet vaak tegen. De vegan burger was erg lekker! Met vegan cheddar zelfs! hier laten ze geen dingen weg op je gerecht! Volgende dag zijn we wederom hier gaan lunchen. Personeel is aardig. Terras is gezellig opgezet en binnen zag er ook prachtig uit.

Attentive! - Edit
Not just a place with boring vegan options, you can tell the vegan options got a lot of attention here! Of all the restaurants close to our holiday home in Exloo, this one looked most promising. The menu had many vegan options, from snacks and sides to desserts, and they were far from the usual.
Read moreThe place has a great atmosphere, being decorated like an old abbey with stained glass and lots of wood. The tables were spaced with quite some distance in between, making it easy for staff to move around and allowing for some privacy. A little bit of light music would have been the cherry on top, but the lights were cosy and the place is very vibrant.
My non vegan family ordered spareribs, but me, my girlfriend and my sister enjoyed the vegan options. As a starter we shared the mushroom soup and the beetroot dish. The soup was good. Nothing special, just what you expect from it. Together with the bread with vegan butter on the side, a comforting dish. The beetroot starter was wonderful, consisting of cooked beetroot accompanied by date confit, orange slices, balsamic syrup, vegan creme freche and sugared walnuts. This dish came together as a whole due to the composition of the separate ingredients. This made up for the fact that the beetroot wasn't brought up to taste itself and, other that the title was suggesting, wasn't the center of the dish.
The celeriac main course left us feeling in awe when it was presented. Unlike the dry and meager vegan "green chef" burger that we ordered, the celeriac dish was abundant in colour and taste. A huge portion of food was served, richly composed with oyster mushroom, radicchio, freekeh, cashew nuts, feta and purslane. I expected a slice of celeriac but instead we got a whole, that was perfectly oven cooked. Only thing that could be improved on was bringing out the deep umami mushroom flavour.
We forgot to specify with our dessert that we wished to get the plantbased option, so we got served the wrong one. The waitress was very happy to return it for the vegan version, and it was presented even more beautifully than normal. Caramelised pear with four different flavours of sorbet ice cream. A delight, accompanied by my decaf oat cappucino.
This place deserves a well earned recommendation. The staff is attentive and professional and the whole experience was a very sophisticated one. It was well worth the 30 minute detour, since the other listings in the area do not spark any curiosity. 5 stars as far as I am concerned.

Fijne service & heerlijk eten - Edit
Voldoende opties voor vegan/vega eten. De porties zijn groot en goed gebalanceerd in smaak. Niet alleenma ‘standaard’ simpele gerechten maar ook echt goed doordacht en delicate gerechte. Vriendelijk en servicegericht personeel.

Heerlijk en veel vega(n) opties! - Edit
Er zijn veel vegan opties op de kaart, of vega die ook vegan kunnen. Ook aanpassingen waren geen enkel probleem, super fijn! Ik vond de uiensoep, de raddichiosalade en de oesterzwamkroket heerlijk! Ik had nog wel veel meer willen proberen, zoals de aardappels met rozemarijn, seizoensgroenten, friet in schil, kofte, de vegan burger, het broodje humus met aubergine. De bediening was heel vriendelijk. Er is een serre, een sfeervolle binnenruimte (ik dacht met haardvuur) en een groot terras met banken met kussens en goede stoelen, genoeg parasols en ook zon. Ik kom hier zeker nog eens terug!
