Thyme And Thyme Again - Edit
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, if you overlook these restaurants for whatever reason, be it lack of awareness or a sense of snobbery, then you are fully missing out on a genuine treasure trove of excellence. What’s more, if the sheer brilliance of the offerings isn’t enough, the cost is borderline absurd.
Read moreBeing well versed in this particular chain of establishments, I had a near intimate knowledge of the menu and knew full well what to expect in terms of both standard and execution. It would have been a monumental shock if it was any less than incredible, so I this front I had little to fear, yet even with these lofty, cast-iron expectations, there were still a few pleasant surprises here that managed to elevate the experience further.
One of main extra boons of this specific location was the level of service. Akin to that which you might receive be lucky to receive at much more well-to-do establishment, every request was met with a smile and a positive attitude. It was quite obvious that they don’t get too many patrons that are of a vegan persuasion electing to dine with them, especially one that appears to be part sarlack, but they did their utmost to make me feel welcomed and, more importantly, catered for.
In terms of other notable standouts from this thoroughly enjoyable meal were, more conventionally, food related. I could easily wax lyrical about everything l, a couple of items really deserve their own specific praise.
Firstly the hash browns. There is no doubt that, done right, they are a thing of beauty - here they were almost an art form. Near perfect in every way, there were scant few occasions when I took a trip up to the spread and didn’t return with at least a brace of the triangular triumphs.
The second and most welcomed surprise came from a highly unlikely source: the mushrooms. Usually nothing more than a token extra that could simply be taken or left without much thought, these made a point of being impressive to the point that they could not be ignored. Juicy, meaty, and bursting with umami flavour,
No airs and graces, just solid, dependable quality at an insanely reasonable price. I’m not too proud to admit that coming to a place such as this is one of the main (only) highlights of returning to the UK. With this being this venue being just a stones throw from the airport, it makes the substantial flight back to the country that much more bearable knowing that it lies in wait on the other side.
