Tasty dumplings - Edit
This was my last stop before heading home after a month's travels and I'm so glad I went. The dumplings were perfect. Tasty without being overly sauced or fried. And the people were so kind. The woman asked if I was vegan and then said that she and her colleague were as well. I asked if she was Buddhist and she used Google translate to explain no, she just believes in the cycle of goodness. How great is that?! Great place to stop by after a walk in that park.

Simple, healthy food - Edit
Enjoyed the dumplings and soup. Nice atmosphere as well. The flavour is light (could be stronger for me).

They take a simple approach here, and it works well. Dishes don’t have lots of added seasoning, such as soy sauce and spices; their flavor comes from the ingredients going into the soup, dumplings, etc. I ordered the sesame oil and ginger soup with thin noodles and the dumplings. The dumplings came with a small serving of the daily soup, and they also offered me a free sample of their own fermented NA beverage.
Read moreI finished the noodle soup and a third of the dumplings (I have a snack for later). Like I mentioned, the flavors were all subtle. I feel clean and healthy when I eat like this. I could always go for a bit more oomph, but I appreciate the approach and still enjoyed my meal. The noodles had sprouts, lions mane, goji berries, tofu and more. The sesame oil really shine because there are no strong flavors competing against it. The ginger slices in the soup were prepared in a way that subdued their flavor. The dumplings were great. It seems they used walnut in them as well as shiitake mushrooms. They don’t give you sauces for dipping but rather dress the dumplings with a little soy. It came with a tomato base soup. There were chunks of tomato, enoki, and garlic. The beverage tasted like vinegar, and I don’t say that disparagingly. I couldn’t tell you what they used to make it, but it had complex flavors—they encouraged me to sip it because it’s quite strong. I’d try it again sometime.
It doesn’t catch your eye as a restaurant from the outside. The space itself is minimal and clean. Besides flowers on the tables, there wasn’t much in the way of decor. The menu is in both English and Chinese, and it looks like they list all the ingredients in each dish. The person who served me was very friendly. They also offer a small selection of packaged foods, but since my luggage is already too full, I didn’t browse what was there.

Hearty and delicious! - Edit
I stopped by here after a long day meandering around the area and I was not disappointed! I ordered the dumpling soup along with a side of soy skin; the only downside was my decision to forgo ordering dumplings entirely! The soup was hearty and tasted quite herbal-y and the dumplings were oh so delicious! If I get the chance to return, I would definitely opt for the dumplings!

Best vegan dumplings in town! - Edit
I had a wonderful experience at Tai Lai. The food was incredibly tasty, fresh, and healthy – every dish was full of flavor. The dumplings were especially delicious, definitely a highlight of the meal. On top of that, the service was excellent – very warm, friendly, and attentive. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious vegan food with a welcoming atmosphere!

A solid choice when you're in the area and not interested in going to the western style restaurants. Food is lightly seasoned and focused on the original flavor of the ingredients.

This is a tranquil but rather serious place - not in a bad way.
Read moreClientele was on the older side, seemed to have a lot of regular customers.
Staff speaks good English, is supremely polite and knowledgeable.
All of the items we had were very tasty and carefully prepared, on the healthy side but to me not the most typical Taiwanese food.
This might be a lack of knowledge on my behalf, and I’m not complaining.
It was nice having whole grain rice and similar wholesome food for a change.
Pros: High-quality products, Friendly and English speaking staff, Above average wholesome

Filling and delicious - Edit
I got the bowl of dumplings soup and it was delicious. The dumplings are filled with cabbage and faux-meat. I also tried a dessert: some rice beignets filled with something I couldn't tell but it was very tasty and not too sweet. The location is perfect to take a wall in the nearby park after the meal. And the ladies who served me were also very nice and spoke a little English (English menu is provided).

We ordered the mushroom soup noodles w/ soup dumplings, and my girlfriend said it reminds her of her Taiwanese grandma's cooking. It was delicious, and smelled just like the soup wafting around the night market.

Nothing but love - Edit
The calm and heartwarming atmosphere felt like being wrapped in a warm fuzzy blanket. Absolutely loved my first visit - the soup including dumplings was lovely, and the owner (or hostess) was incredibly kind and helpful to me when I expressed that I had felt unsure of where to eat as a vegan - given that I had only arrived in Taiwan the day before.

The owner was very helpful and friendly in helping me choose what to order. I was feeling a bit sick and she suggested a soup that would be good for me. I got the set meal which comes with an enzyme drink, salad, a small side dish and a dessert. The enzyme drink was like a kind of vinegar but I thought it was really tasty! I enjoyed my soup and the rest of the food, too. I probably won’t rush back there but it was healthy and tasty so I might go if in the area.

Healthy spot - Edit
I wouldn’t have thought that this place were a restaurant had I not been looking for it: upon first glance, it looks like a posh tea room from outside its floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The bilingual menu was helpful, but they didn’t have the sushi rolls any longer (probably an old menu item). The set meals sounded like a little too much for what we had an appetite for, so we each ordered an entree a la carte. At first, I didn’t bother ordering the side of green veggies, but after my Chinese toon fried rice came out and I saw how small the portion size was, I asked the waitress to bring out the veggies.
Read moreThe dishes tasted fine to me, although I could see most people would probably find the flavoring on the bland side. My friends really enjoyed the veggie dumplings, as well as the noodle soup.
As I suspected, I was feeling peckish again shortly thereafter, which was annoying. I’ll try ordering a set meal next time: maybe that will be more satiating!
Pros: all vegan, very nice staff, healthy food
Cons: small portions

The dumplings and the fried rice with fresh pineapple and soy skin (and peanut powder) are super tasty. Dishes can be ordered as sets. Try the enzymes-drinks (light sour vinegary 1cl drink made from herbs). The Taiwanese Grapefruit is also amazing. - Very family friendly staff!

The best vegan dumplings ever! - Edit
My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant at lunch hours. Even though the restaurant was empty, it didn’t feel very intimidating to step inside. The staff was nice and fluent in English. The dumplings were amazing! I personally recommend the set so that you can get the full experience (the enzyme drink, salad, dessert were all delightful.) But the dumplings though! Can’t emphasize enough how great those bad boys are.

Our very first dinner once we landed in Taipei. I had the noodles which had delicate flavoring and my son had the dumplings. Both were tasty and we struggled to finish. The staff was very polite and took us even though it was close to closing time. Looking forward to going back.
