Worth a visit in Rarotonga - Edit
This place has merged with The Rickshaw while renovation work is happening at The Rickshaw (see their Facebook for updates). The menu at the combined Zest - La Casita and The Rickshaw has both Mexican and Asian style dishes. From La Casita side I tried the corn chips with salsa and guacamole (I was pleasantly surprised to find the salsa was fresh and not from a jar) and the chimichanga. The latter had coconut cream or yoghurt on top as a sour cream substitute, which was nice. There was vegan cheese inside but not much and I couldn’t taste it. The rest of the filling (roast veges, flavoured rice) and sides (salad and guacamole) were nice. Hot sauce on the table gave it an extra kick and bit more flavour. I would visit again - especially for the two cute cats on site.

Great Vegan Options - Edit
They had two special, vegan options - tofu tacos and vegan enchiladas. They were both great. And they had a coconut sour cream that was delicious. Great frozen margaritas too. We went twice and they made us vegan nachos the second trip. Best food for vegans on the island.

Several options on menu - Edit
There were a few vegan options on the menu which waa great to see, as we were impressed that they had vegan cheese and sour cream. However, the poly Mexican enchiladas were not my favourite - the topping were good, but inside it was just plain chopped tofu, wilted greens and coconut milk so it wasn’t very flavourful. The frozen margs are huge though and overall it was a good experience.

Lots of vegan and vege options. They even have plant-based cheese and sour cream. It is a regular for us and is reasonably priced.

Phenomenal - Edit
I had the Poly Max Enchiladas from the Specials Board (with tofu and vegan cheese), and can honestly say it's one of the best dishes I've ever had.
Read moreThe taste was out of this world! Genuinely phenomenal.
I really hope they move it to the main menu, rather than only being a special, because it's just so good that it seems a shame not to offer it at all times!
They are vegan-friendly, even though their menu doesn't necessarily suggest it obviously.
They can substitute most things for vegan options, such as tofu, vegan cheese, and vegan ice cream.
They are also able to make vegan pizzas with their vegan cheese.
They take care with vegan orders, too - it's not just a second thought.
This place was a complete surprise in just how good it was and how vegan-friendly it was. We will definitely be going back!
Pros: Great-tasting food, Good prices, Very vegan-friendly
