Liked But Didn't Love - Edit
I enjoyed the food, but for me the sweet was too sweet and the salty too salty. It's a good place for those who like salty and fried, which I know includes plenty of people.
Read moreThe mushroom appetizer had a very nice ginger sauce.
Pros: all vegan, large menu
Cons: salty

Taste and flavors are mild but high-grade. So far, tried fried rice and pad thai on repeat but gonna try more items.

New ownership and so much better than it was years ago - Edit
2026: New ownership and completely different restaurant than what it was a few years ago. It's even better now. Highly recommend the general tso's and also the seitan lo mein. The fried rice was good but was a little too healthy for my liking in that it wasn't greasy or full of msg haha. So happy for this rebrand and come back for Zhu's!
Read more*Outdated review: Large portions and not very expensive. The spring rolls were good but a little under cooked for my taste. Highly recommend the scallion pancakes!! Pad Thai was very good but could use a little less lime juice/zest

Delicious - Edit
I was so happy to find a vegan Asian restaurant and it did not disappoint. The lunch special came with miso soup and a spring roll. The curry was very flavorful. I got the banana spring rolls for dessert and they were also very good. Parking was a little tricky, but not awful.

Fantastic Vegan Spot - Edit
Very flavorful vegan Asian food. Unfortunately, not very Celiac friendly, so was not fully able to enjoy the atmosphere. Good pricing overall - will definitely come back when I visit Boston again!

Comfort food - Edit
Had a nice dinner at Zhu’s Kitchen — a fully vegan Asian spot in Arlington, MA 🍜✨ We’re trying to up our protein lately, so we started with edamame and agedashi tofu — both satisfying and a great start.
Read moreFor mains, I had the General Tso’s with soy cutlets, and hubby had the Sesame Tofu. We both asked for extra spicy 🔥... but honestly? It wasn’t spicy at all — more sweet than anything. I even wondered if they accidentally gave us the same sauce or swapped them because we requested spice. The flavors were still tasty, just definitely more tailored to a Western palate.
That said, everything was well prepared and really satisfying — and it’s always a win to have another fully vegan spot around 🌱
And yes... the last pic is quite literally the doggie bag 🐶💼

Bland disappointment - Edit
I was looking forward to enjoying vegan Chinese cuisine. I ordered the deep-fried king oyster mushrooms and the Mapo Tofu. The mushrooms were bland and actually hard. Dipping them in the sauce gave them some taste, but they actually remained more hard than crunchy. The Mapo Tofu, normally one of my favourite dishes, pretty much looked like slop on a plate, cubes of uncooked soft tofu lying in a gooey red sauce with big bits of undercooked carrots and celery. No sign of Sichuan peppercorns. At least it was sort of spicy, but that's all it tasted like. At least the homemade ginger ale was ok, but for 35$ for one person, I will never return.

Adventure with non vegan - Edit
Only two tables occupied, surprised how slow it was. Made the 30 minute drive to get there through Boston traffic.
Read moreFriendly and efficient service
Gratis miso soup little weak
Crispy fried order mushroom had meaty consistency, lite crispy batter
I had mapo tofu, super spicy, plenty of tofu in chili red sauce with medley of chopped veggies served with brown rice
The chocolate cake was dense brownie like and hit the chocolate and strawberry buttons of flavor.
Only a distant visitor, so won't be able to try the two pages of options and page of special dishes. It's just nice to be able to offer anything and not have to worry about your veganism.
Pros: Plenty of choice, Service

Must Stop In - Edit
I always divert my route so I can eat here before going to concerts in Boston. Their food leaves you feeling nourished and light (not sitting heavy in your stomach). Can't find a miss on the menu, it all tastes good and feels good.

Everything on the menu is vegan! Scallion pancakes and the BBQ seitan as appetizers were delicious appetizers to start off. Orange seitan and General Gao’s seitan were amazing.

Solid vegan food, drinks and desserts! - Edit
I love that everything here is vegan. I can get Thai iced tea, banana spring rolls with ice cream, soy products as a protein and not just having veggies as the protein. I miss the Brookline location so I’m glad this one is still open. Staff is very kind.

Cozy vegan pan-Asian place. - Edit
Was trying to find vegan food that wouldn’t take me too deep into the hellscape that is driving within Boston proper, and this was it! “100% pure vegan” according to the menu (sounds pretty vegan to me!) in an area that was very relaxed with lotsa street parking. Place was small and cozy and quiet, probably a great date spot.

Good Pan-Asian and all vegan! - Edit
Quite tasty take out. We started with the vegetable tempura and spring rolls and loved them. Sauces were excellent and the portions just right. For meals we had the General Tso’s Soy Protein and the Pad Thai and we ate every bite. For dessert we tried the chocolate cake with the strawberry topping and it was ok, not the most tasty, but a sweet finish to a fabulous dinner otherwise.

Delicious food. Get N2 - Udon, you won’t regret it. We also got one of the soy protein main meals. It was good, but can’t remember the name. Also, the tea is good and the edamame is top tier.
