Vegan Taiwanese/Chinese food - Edit
I stumbled upon this restaurant when wandering around looking for breakfast. They weren’t yet open, so I saved it on Google Maps and came back for dinner. It’s only a little bigger than a hole in the wall. There are about four tables, and the restaurant feels very lived in. The menu is fully vegetarian and a few dishes contain egg. The menu itself is in Chinese; dishes with eggs are indicated with an egg icon next to them.
Read moreI tried the “fish fragrance” eggplant (魚香茄子). The dish never contains fish, and they used minced mushroom and a plant-based protein as a substitute for the ground pork. The small portion—there’s an option for small or large for many dishes on the menu—plus a bowl of rice was more than enough for one person. I left about one third uneaten. It hit the spot. It’s an oily dish, so that’s probably why I couldn’t finish it. The eggplant was well cooked, and I enjoyed all the extra morsels.
