Great Kumano Kodo accommodation for vegan pilgrims - Edit
Stayed here overnight on our Kumano Kodo. When booking via Kumano Travel, choose "Vegetarian type E" meals to be served a vegan feast for dinner and breakfast. They had even placed little stickers on our chairs to remind the staff of dashi (the ever-present fish broth and mortal enemy of every vegan and vegetarian travelling Japan) to be avoided, which felt very reassuring. Great service, 5 stars. The food was delicious, our traditional Japanese-style room was absolutely lovely, and the in-house onsen added to the overall great experience. Check out the rooftop terrace for some after dinner drinks (which can be purchased at the little in-hotel store). Absolutely recommended for vegan pilgrims on the Kumano Kodo.

A vegan feast - Edit
This is accommodation, and ahead of booking if you let them know you are vegan they will prepare a traditional japanese meal of many small plates and hot dishes cooking on open flame. This includes breakfast too. As they have a natural onsen of sulphuric water, they incorporate this into the foods theme.
