Excellent Korean with great vegan options - Edit
We enjoyed bibimbap (rice) and bibim noodles. A rare treat, they have v mung bean pancakes! Gim bop (Korean version of sushi) was most excellent. Also they had a fresh bar of sides and the staff were knowledgeable about which were vegan. The only minus points were no v kimchi and no v mandu (dumplings).

Great find - Edit
Great find, and good service, had the organic tofu stir fry, they allowed me to order it mild 🌶️, even had some interesting local greens. Only thing I would change is less salty, but that might just be my own taste. One thing to be aware of is they don’t have a public restroom.

Good value, very fresh - Edit
The portions are generous. The vegetables are very fresh. It was a bit more heat (spice) than I expected so if you are sensitive to spicy food be sure to ask

Tons of vegan options - Edit
This was an unexpected find! The person working was very knowledgeable about their vegan options and they are clearly marked. We tried 2 dishes. The first was the mung bean pancake with daikon, shoyu potatoes and pipinola shoots. This was fantastic, the daikon paired really well with the pancake. We also tried the jap chae noodles with vegetables. There were okay, a little too oily for my personal preference. I would skip this next time.

Yummy food - Edit
First time trying Korean food. They had a separate vegan menu for walk-up orders. The food was very tasty and fresh. I ordered the vegan tofu stir fry, which comes with three sides you can choose: cabbage, moong beans, and japchae noodles. The dish was delicious and flavorful, and it also came with rice. The portions were generous. I also ordered the vegan bibimbap, which was very refreshing. I'll definitely be going back.

At least 10 vegetarian/vegan dishes - Edit
20 years Korean family run restaurant. Recent years pared-down the traditional meat menu and added many vegetarian/vegan dishes. Expect a balance of flavors using fresh vegetables without too much sugar or salt. A great example of how tasty Korean vegan food can be.

Amazing, hidden gem - Edit
Came to this shopping center for Living Liquid, but my friend wasn’t excited by what they had. We walked over to Yoga and ordered from the vegan/vegetarian menu. Food was excellent and cheaper than everything else on the island. I had the gimbap (vegan, with tofu) and my friend had the bi bim bap (vegetarian— it’s vegan without the egg). #Veganuary

Delicious!!!! - Edit
Yong’s Kal-Bi has TONS of vegan options and everything I’ve tried is delicious! Let them know you’re vegan when you order so they leave off the egg, which comes in some dishes. I always get the vegan pancake of the day and the vegan bibimbop. I’ve also had the spicy rice cakes, which are delicious! Side note, I live in Hilo and have driven to Waimea (the drive takes a little over an hour) just to go to Yong’s, it’s so good!

5 star rating - Edit
I wasn't sure if we were going to like this place but thought we would give it a try and I am so glad that we did! There are tons of vegan options and the menu makes it really easy to determine what your options are. Also the lady who helped us (I'm assuming she is the owner's vegan wife) was so sweet and helpful. We ordered a ton of food and all of it was so refreshing and light. We had leftovers and enjoyed them for multiple days. The vegan pancakes are a must! The side options were all really delicious too (we had cabbage, corn, seaweed, potatoes). I liked their food so much I am hoping I can find something comparable near me in Sacramento, CA.

Delicious and lots of vegan options - Edit
I'd give it 5 stars, great place to go if there are both omni and vegan/vegetarian people in your party. Many vegan options, I had the vegetable pancakes and spicy tofu stir fry, both really tasty. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

This place exceeded my expectations. There are so many vegan options that a person could go back several times and not have the same thing twice.

Drive to Waimea just to eat here! - Edit
Best Korean Food EVER! The chef's wife is vegan so they have delicious vegan options that are still authentically Korean. This chef knows what he's doing! The flavors and textures were perfectly balanced in the tofu stir fry we got and the special Korean "pancakes" they had with garlic chives and scallions. Everyone behind the counter was nice, and the complimentary caffeine-free barley tea hits the spot just right on a cool day. Wish I could give this place five stars even though it's not strictly vegan because they deserve it!

Amazing vegan Korean dishes!!! - Edit
This is a hidden gem in the heart of Waimea. I highly recommend any vegans/plant-based eaters to stop on by for a satisfying and healthy meal. It’s a must stop in Waimea! And the owner’s wife is truly fantastic! She’s the reason why there are so many vegan options at Yong’s restaurant. Thank you!!! I’ll be back for more!!
