A unique hotpot restaurant in central Taichung - Edit
Described as "quirky" and "fun," this hotpot restaurant offers a unique dining experience. Located a five-minute walk from the Wenxin Chongde Taichung Metro station, the restaurant offers more than fifty choices of meat-free hotpot ingredients. There are nine different meatless broths to choose from, and eight of them are vegan. In a creative change from a sushi restaurant conveyor belt, diners are seated around a model railroad track and choose their ingredients from a slow moving model train as it passes by their seat. The "train" offers both a vast variety of ingredients to cook and appetizers that are ready to eat. There is also a bar offering a variety of greens for cooking, along with drinks and condiments.
Read moreProbably 95% of the offerings are vegan, while those that include dairy (such as pizza) weren't difficult to spot. There are also eggs and ice cream available.
The staff are friendly and helpful, but there is a 90-minute limit for dining. For lunch, it is best to arrive at 11:00 or 12:30, while dinner guests should be there at 17:00, 18:30 or 20:00. Reservations are accepted via LINE. Cash only.
