Sunday roast deliciousness

We had the vegan roast with Yorkshire puddings and it was delicious - the mushroom gravy was so yum and the butternut roast was so so yummy.

Pros: Good size portion and super tasty , Waiter was super friendly , Vegan Yorkshire puds!

Cons: It was a bit cold where we sat.

Sunday lunch

We had the vegan Sunday lunch and it was really tasty. They did a butternut squash roast and potatoes and a few other bits with a white mushroom sauce. Shame we had to order the Yorkshire puddings separately but they ended up not charging us for them so all was well. Great that they offer the Vegan non-alcoholic Brewdog on draught too!

Pros: Very tasty homemade food, Non alcoholic beer on draught, Really lovely staff

Cons: They charge extra for Yorkshire puddings!, Restaurant was cold

More vegan options available

Woodland Creatures have significantly grown their vegan offering over the last year or so. Vegan options include the Moving Mountains burger, vegan "meat"ball flatbread and a vegan roast (only available on a Sunday).

If you go on a Sunday, you need to try the vegan roast - it's a sweet potato nut roast patty served with lots of potatoes, vegetables and thick mushroom gravy. If they have sold out (which does happen) then the flatbread is also a really good option - almost like a pizza but with a lighter, crispier base.

pint

I only stopped for a beer but wanted to update as it seems so long since Elaine reviewed.
It's still limited and the soup is vegan. They have a few smaller bits and bats which are marked vegan, but again olives, hummus etc..so not going wild.
They do have a clearly marked vegan burger but I have to be honest and say with the rest of the menu I'm not sure how comfortable I would be to guarantee it isn't cooked with non veg items (oil, pan etc)..
I just wanted to highlight there are options here if needed.

Cons: meat

The venue was taken over in November and I would highly recommend nipping back in. There is a vegan Sunday roast along with lots of other new things. Whole new cocktail menu and a fresh and unique new beer selection too! Enjoy!

Not much for vegans

From April 2016 - Nipped in here for dinner last night after a day out in Edinburgh and the menu is slightly confusing and doesn't seem to have changed much since I was last there (maybe two years ago?). (Vg) means vegan, and was only beside the hummus and pitta bread, and (v) means vegetarian but this mark was beside the "Vegan Sweet Potato and Beetroot Burger".

I wasn't fancying the soup of the day, which was suitable for vegans (mushroom - AKA the vegetable of evil), and hummus and pitta bread I can easily chuck together at home, so went for the burger and wedges with side salad. They had a seeded bun for vegans which was nice, it wasn't the usual if you don't do brioche then you're going bunless. Despite me being a bit wary as I'm not much a fan of beetroot either (I don't like anything vinegary tasting except pickled onion Space Raiders) it was a really tasty burger, if it did fall apart a bit as I was eating it.

They have Black Isle Brewery blonde lager on tap, which I quite like, so was happy to have a couple of pints with this and my meal. At 8pm they cranked the volume of the music up to 11 - I'm never really sure why this is necessary as it's not a venue where you dance, so that leaves sitting down and talking, and the volume of music didn't really allow for this. We'd been there since 5pm and it was starting to fill up so was happy when our evening was coming to an end and we were about to head back to Glasgow anyway.

There are lots of other places in Edinburgh I've yet to try so probably won't be back for a while, but would be happy to go back if invited to this particular venue.

Pros: Vegan labellling exists, Good range of drinks

Cons: Menu labelling a bit confusing, Not much for vegans, Noisy
